low-fat cottage cheese with pinapple

Just noticed that the 1% cottage cheese with pineapple chunks that I've been buying has 16grams of sugar per serving. It doesn't appear to be a very quality "clean" food for cutting.

Anybody know where this sugar comes from? Is this fructose from the pineapple or added sugar?

I guess I'm answering my own question here, but it looks like the best course of action is to buy unflavored low-fat cottage cheese and mix some fruit or berries into it.

The pineapple. It's full of sugar.

Or rinse the cottage cheese a bit to make it less salty and add some sugar free jello to it. (Thanks Built)

My guess is that the sugar is added--you are probably right.

That's pretty cool. I never would have thought of rinsing cottage cheese.
