Odd occurances
To Built or anyone else with some good info or advice.
I have lost a total of around 45 pounds in the last 6 months. However, during the last month, I have not lost any weight. Not 1 lb. My weight has stagnated at 220lbs. My measurements are changing quite a bit though, as well as my composition. I have not lost any size in my chest/arms/legs, in fact I have GAINED 1/4inch almost uniformly in these areas, but I have lost another inch on my waist. I went down another jeans size, and my upper abs are coming out. I look leaner than I did, but the lack of weight loss doesn't make sense to me. I am running a deficit, so it is basically impossible that I am gaining muscle, so why is my weight not changing? According to the height/neck/abdomen/weight test I am down another BF% or 2. I am not complaining. I personally do not care what the scales say if I am leaning out, I would just like someone to explain to me how this could be possible. |

Hi!
I'm not an expert or anything, but have you recalculated your maintenance based on your 'new weight' (i mean after the 45 pound loss)? Perhaps now that you are lighter - your maintenance is less? So you may think you are running a deficit, when in fact this is your new maintenance? This is the first thing that came to mind, but if this isn't the case, then wait for Built! |

I am hitting around 2k for my deficit. Is it possible that this is my new maintenence? This seems a bit low for someone my size isn't it?

If you are not gaining weight, you are not gaining a lot of muscle. It appears as though you are burning fat at the ratio difference you are gaining muscle mass because teh molecular weight of muscle is heavier than that of fat. Also, fat contains less water than muscle so that factors in too.
