    Question regarding dried spices...

Hello, I have been trolling these forums for awhile, decided to finally make a profile. So hello all and thanks for the info.

I have been doing a cutting plan and use dried spices which seem to have no calories/fat/etc, but do have sodium.

I was wondering if this has any impact on cutting if I stay within the recommended daily dose per the nutritional info on the package or if I am best of to skip on spices all together.

    Thanks in advance.

I use dried or fresh herb and spices on just about everything i cook. In any given day i would doubt you would consume more than 10 calories(and this is a high guesstimate) of the herbs or spices. Sodium on the other hand could be higher, but its directly related to salt items. If sodium is an issue, cut it out. If you can put it in your diet it sure brings flavors out a lot better.

    Cliff notes:
Dont worry about it. Use them on everything and dont panic

Sodium will not affect your fat gain or loss.

Increased sodium levels will increase water weight and decreased sodium levels will decrease water weight, but that is non-consequential to becoming leaner.

There are also low or no sodium alternatives. Mrs. Dash has a lot of no-sodium spice mixes. Anyway, no reason to forgo using spices. It is a complete non-issue.
