    cutting & carbs

ive been cutting 10 weeks now, on low carb, hi protrein, hi fat diet, except saturdays, i load up on carbs and cals. im losing at a steady rate, about 1-1.5 a week, while maintaining most muscle. my question is how important is post workout carbs while cutting? i switched my pwo shake to all protein, no carb, low calower calorie (isopure) from higher in fat and carb shake (muscle milk).

also, i train first thing in early morning on empty stomache.

I'd say post workout carbs work against you on a cut. Especially if you are doing some kind of glycogen depletion workout with high reps. By immediately adding carbs post workout, you are undoing what you just did.

When you refeed after a few days or low carb, that's when you add in the carbs bigtime.

Be aware of the caloric count in these type of bars you are considering, some of which will have up to 500 calories. This is way too many if you are interested in losing weight. Find a low carb protein bar that offers 200 calories or fewer, but still provides up to 15 grams of protein.
If he's tracking his calories, he'll be able to account for the macronutrients regardless of how much is contained within each bar.

    Sounds like you're doing great...

    Hi,

It sounds like you are on top of it... especially following your morning workout
    with breakfast...

Have incorporated fat burning foods into you regimen yet?

Depending on your goals, bulking up, getting cut up; or whatever, fat burning foods will assist you in reaching them...

    Unclear what's confusing.

Many a successful fat loss diet include the one-two punch of 1) glycogen depletion workout, and 1) low carbs. If you do your depletion workout, and then add carbs immediately after your workout via a carb shake, you've just undermined objective number 1 by refilling your glycogen.

And if you're going to cut, why do a damn shake when you only have so many calories to consume? Not going to fill you up. Eat whole foods.

Otherwise, I'm guessing your method of cutting does not include a) glycogen depletion workouts, and b) low carbs.

    Merkaba,
What do you do on a cut? I am coming up on a cut in about a month and want to start laying out my line of attack.
