    Question The Caloric Level Thread

I have five questions for you all.

    1.) What is your gender?

    2.) How old are you?

3.) What do you generally set your daily caloric level at when maintaining weight?

4.) What do you generally set your daily caloric level at when losing weight?

5.) What do you generally set your daily caloric level at when gaining weight?

Reps for all who answer my questions seriously. I am merely interested in the variance in caloric levels between individuals.

    Male

    2.) How old are you?

    42

3.) What do you generally set your daily caloric level at when maintaining weight?

    2700

4.) What do you generally set your daily caloric level at when losing weight?

    2000

5.) What do you generally set your daily caloric level at when gaining weight?

This is generally speaking... that is when I'm not doing some radical dieting like UD2, etc.

Nah, just curious. I use this kind of information in conversation with people who can't seem to wrap their head around individuals needing different things.

Noticing personal biological differences is always very important when dieting. The average maintenance level may be 2000 cals a day, but very few people fall in that specific mean category. People aren't averages as I believe. Very few things fall into averages in individual reality.

Plus, I am always a bit surprised how different people can be metabolically when they appear very similar.

    2800 cutting?

I hate you so much right now. I'd be gettin fat off of that. Granted I can only assume my maintenance will be changing now that I'm doing Jiu Jitsu 4/7 days. By how much, I don't know.

    1.) Female
    2.) Forty six

    3.) 2200

    4.) PSMF: 1100; carb-cycling: 1800

5.) Unknown. I just eat. I naturally overeat. I used to be fat. Almost all former-fatties will naturally overeat given the opportunity. I keep it down to a dull roar by limiting carbs, especially grains.

    25 year old male here.

Maintenance: Right now it's probably about 3800?

Weight Loss: I always just decrease my caloric intake in 10-20% increments or so. When I shift over to cutting weight, I will probably start at about 3300-3600 calories per day depending on where I end my bulk.

Weight Gain: What I'm doing now. I'm eating about 4100 calories per day, but my weight gain is starting to taper off, and I may go up to about 4500.

I do like being able to eat so much and be able not to worry about putting on weight.

However, I deals with problems converse to many people diet-wise. That is, I find bulking more difficult than losing weight. I have to work a lot to get the cals in. If I am going to bed in a couple hours and realize that I have only eaten 3k, I gotta stuff in another 1k calories. I force feed a lot.

If I am leaning up, I can go places and do things without having to worry about going several hours without eating because I'll just pick up the cals later.

Are you having trouble packing those cals in? I used to do 5k a day when I could stop at the dining commons at school whenever I walked by it, but it was work to say the least.

I've been doing it for so long it's not a problem. Currently, I bring a cooler with me everywhere I go. People know me by it, seriously. I also never get full really. I just stop because my tupperware container is empty.

Also I think I'm actually eating about 4300 now. I forgot I added in a little EVO and almond butter recently. So I will probably cut at like 3500 when I start in a few weeks.
