    Diet advice

I know a lot of basics about nutrition. Protein is good. Fiber is good. Carbs are good but too many is bad. Calories are good, but once again, too many is bad. Fats are good or bad depending on the type of fat. All that basic stuff. I know losing weight requires burning more calories than you've eaten. I also get the food groups. Serving sizes and servings per container (duh) too. But when it comes to dieting I don't know much.

I was on a low-carb diet and lost some good weight. Pretty fast too. I've recently stopped that diet and just not eaten junk foods like chocolate bars and all. The low-carb diet also happened to have a lot of foods with a high amount of proteins like tuna, chicken breast, steak, and all. Since I stopped I've lost some weight as well but not as much or as fast.

I can tell that I'm not losing muscle though because I've gotten stronger. Some may be water weight too. But I had to stop my diet because I couldn't eat the same stuff for that long. I mean dinner was okay because a lot of dinner foods had the low carb with high protein and I like it all. Lunch was not the same thing everyday but I didn't have much of a variety. I have to pack my lunch everyday for school so I can't have hot lunches, adding more foods to dinner. Now breakfast.......Well was the worst. A lot of breakfast foods are just bad for you. Others take time to cook. I don't have a lot of time in mornings to make some of the breakfast foods I could have so I was limited to peanut butter toast, sausage, jerky, eggs, and apple sliced up and dipped in peanut butter. I know that may sound like a lot since you can make eggs so many different ways but I HATE EGGS. I'd have to force myself to eat them because they are so good for you and easy/quick to make.

Now I need a new diet or at least add more food for lunch and breakfast to my old one. Any suggestions?

If anyone knows a good diet that will help me lose fat but still have a lot of protein (without putting whey protein in/on everything I eat) could you please share it with me?

Check out the "do it yourself" diet in my signature. You can be flexible with your macronutrients and we don't care about your food selection or frequency --- just get in your fiber.

Some foods that you didn't mention that I would add:
Skim milk, cottage cheese, chicken, turkey, tuna, salmon (any fish really), edamame (I found it at Costco).

As in a particular type of diet? That depends on a lot of things, like how lean you are right now and how much more you want to lose. It also depends on the type of training that you do while leaning out.

I just want my body fat in the single digits. I'd really like to get a 6 pack too. I don't know what body fat I would need for that is. I do eat chicken, turkey, and a lot of tuna. I just didn't list them for dinner and lunch.

Alright guys thanks. I think I'll go read the "do it yourself" thing and go from there. Thanks a lot.

Alright man good luck. there are various body types to see abs. I for instance am like 13-14% with visible abs. Not no washboard or heavy creases but they are there and make me feel good about myself. Some say guys have to get to 10% bf to see em but I have proven dem wrong.
