    hunger-pain

So im 38, 5'10 235lbs and hover between 12-15%BF without much dieting other then watching the size of my meals. Recently ive been trying to cut and drop my BF down further,I spread meals about every 3 hours and got a good track of what works for me and what doesnt as far as carb/pro/fat ratios.Heres my problem, every night like clockwork just as im going to bed my stomach starts growling, and growling to the point i cant fkin sleep.my last meal prior to sleep is 2 hours prior but still while im laying there trying to sleep it sounds like a fkin exorcism is going on in my stomach. Normally id go grab something to eat from the fridge and fall right to sleep, but i dont wanna do that anymore, WTF??? any ideas to stop the growling/hunger?

    thanks for any replies, Allen

    Couple of suggestions.

Move larger meals towards end of the day.

Water consumption? Assuming you don't have a weak bladder and can last the night.

This right here is helping me a lot. I eat a nice breakfast, but my lunch and afternoon meals are small in size. This allows me to have larger portions at night so that I don't have to fight carb cravings at bedtime.

Well first of all. Try some Casein before bed or a tbsp of natty peanut butter.
Second of all. It's mind over matter. If you don't mind it don't matter. You tell your stomach what it gets. So you decide what's more important. Impressing them cougars or "satisfying" your stomach. I suggest using the growling as bedtime music and suck it up.

I heard somewhere that more times than not, what we believe is "hunger pains" is usually thirst pains. If you are eating right, perhaps you just aren't consuming enough h2o.

Speaking as a competitor, I consider it more important to not be hungry and be able to sleep than to suck it up and just be miserable. Nothing kills my forward progress more than lack of sleep. If I need to readjust my eating times, add another meal and readjust the cals across the other meals of the day, or just have "something" before bed, I'll do it. Something as simple as a spoonful of cottage cheese, a TBLS of PB or some casein protein to satisfy the hunger so I can sleep.

Do like sassy says if your weak minded or "suck it up" and strive to be the best. Stomach growling lets you know you haven't been eating like a slop for at least the last few hours.

I also just realized your a pretty big guy. So you must be pretty educated. Sorry I gave my input. I was only stating the way I feel is, hunger is all in our heads.

    P.S. I meant Slob*

no problem man,i wish it was in my head, but ill be damned if im not laying there almost every night(since ive started cutting) tossing an turning from it growling. Its happened often in the past but id just go eat something small and be done with it.now im not doing that and its literally keeping me from sleeping. Ill try the casein though and see how it works.

Yeah casein is what I suggest. I mean if you gotta have something. Why not protein right?

i always have a pot of low fat cottage 20 mins before hitting the sack and would definitely recommend it as something to fill that hole and it serves a purpose being a slow release protein also moderately low in carbs and calories overall.

We are relatively close to the same size bro, and what I found is that if I eat something protein based about 3-4 hours before bed, hunger isnt an issue. It doesnt have to be heavy or anything. Like a can of tuna or a half cup of cottage cheese work for me.
