Exclamation Diet while using whey protein

    Hi there folks
just a bit of background. i am 19 Stone 13 Lbs - used to be 33 stone +
i have been on diet for about two years and have lost 13 odd stone.

my friend who does mma and sfc and also runs his own gym advised me to change my diet. instead of 3 meals have six smaller meals and replace two of the meals with a protein shake and a banana.

I have done this and so far within a week i have lost 6Lbs and i also notice size change in me. like my wrists and neck and stuff.

I eat a low carbs high protein diet. i have stuck to the 6 times a day but only usually can fit in 5 . and also i do not eat carbs after 2PM

my other friend said that whey protein makes you retain water therefor making you look fat. but i read up on whey and it is supposed to be good for dieting. it was just to see what the real story is on the use of whey protein for dieting and also does it make you retain water or put on weight.

i always eat under my daily amount of cals. i am active and at the gym. i have 2 shakes a day a 35 gram scoop and 200mls water.

please folks lets set this confusion out once and all.

    all help really wanted.

    thanks guys

Sounds like you're doing well to me. Definately a good move switching to more smaller meals more often. Keep plugging away and well done on the big weight loss!!

If you’re looking for a multipurpose protein powder -- one that serves as a meal replacement, has additional vitamins and minerals, plus a full spectrum enzyme.
    I would recommend Pro-Optimal Whey.

Protein Powder enhanced with Aminogen -- an enzyme that aids with the absorption of amino acids by efficiently breaking down protein. It’s your perfect choice if you have trouble digesting protein or seek quick muscle recovery after exercising.
I would recommend Whey Protein with Aminogen

These two I been using and it has help a great deal for me and you will also notice that it doesn't have too many chemical that most protein drinks have that can course bloating and digesting problems and more.

So, you didn't say it in actual words but I'm guessing you're cutting.

What's your approach? If you run a calorie deficit for too long your metabolism will begin to slow down to prevent its perceived starvation. I'm guessing you're not a seasoned dieter who would want to go for a ketogenic diet or something of the like so you might want to research carb cycling. I found that approach to be very comfortable and realistic while cutting.

Re: the bananas. Why did your friend suggest those? Honestly, if you're doing low-carbs I would stay away from simple sugars, aside from lactose if you love milk. A banana will typically yield 30g or so of fructose, which is not really the best food choice when low-carbing. The insulin spike from simple sugars is more drastic than with complex carbs, and can make you hungry for more.

How many veges are you eating? As for the protein powder, 35g a day seems fine to me. How much protein are you getting from that scoop? Does your brand have any sugar? How much protein are you eating all together?

    What are your calories?

Props to the OP on the weight lost so far. Whey is fine, you may find it helps you feel full a little longer, which is very helpful while cutting.

Gnc has a blend Procomplex I think. Its a blend of Soy Whey and Casein. On the human digestability scale soy is best on the bioavailability scale whey is best and for slow steady release casein is best. I got two 2lb. jugs for like 30 bucks with gold card. Whey is quickly digested and soy is good for overall health not to mention full of isoflavonoids. Hope this helps.
