    Anyone Try The "Master Cleanse"

I heard about this "master cleanse" diet where all you do is drink water mixed with lemons, cayenne pepper, maple syrup, then flush it out with sea salts. People say they feel great and it really flushes them out. Anyone ever try this? I'm looking for some feedback before I give it a try.

It's supposed to be a temporary thing like 10 - 15 days, then you get back to regular food. But extreamly hard the first 3-4 days because your detoxing so I wanted to know if it gets better or if the whole thing is a sham.

Why would you think the human body would ever be optimal at doing ANYTHING good for you on a nutritional intake of cayenne pepper, salt, lemon and pancake syrup?

Want a master cleanse? Eat about a pound of brocolli every day.

Honestly, I think "cleansing" is a crock of horseshit.

First of all, you can stay generally clear of free radicals, toxins, pesticides, etc, throufgh a well-balanced, natural diet consisting of whole foods.

Secondly, anything else that may enter and/or accumulate in your body via air pollution, stress, or whatever these cleansers claim will just come back. However, the metabolic turmoil caused by these drastic "diets" is not worth getting rid of some obscure toxins in the liver or wherever that, while present, will likely never cause any problems.

Our foods and environment aren't so polluted that moderation in everything can't keep you healthy.

For the past month and a half I have eaten over 3lbs of veggies a day. It is unreal what comes out of me. The real kicker is the pound of asparagus I eat everyday. Makes my piss and shit smell like a sewage treatment facility next door to a paper mill.

I just wish my poop were more solid. If you eat too much fiber, you get a new kind of poo that I never had before. There is not enough stuff to make it stick together so you end up pooping this green semi diuretic looking stuff. The bright side is it doesn't stick to your asshole at all, so you can get a nice clean wipe with just 2 or three squares of paper.

I'm an advocate of juice fasting for 3-5 days. It does make me feel good. Making your own juices with veggies and some fruits do provide nutritional value to your body. Master cleanse is a load of shit! No nutritional value at all. If you are using it for a cleanse/detox buy a juicer and lots of greens and make your own. If you are doing it to lose weight, learn how to eat healthy and properly instead. JMHO

Ok from the sounds of it most of you are saying that I would be an idiot to even try this. I get it thanks guys. I'm not afraid to try radical things with diets every now and then but I'm going to take your guys's advice and stay away from this one. I agree with a lot of the stuff you guys have put on here and your right it makes no sense to try it. I'd also like to give a special thanks to KelJu for getting real specific and painting a nice picture. Haha awesome.

Diets are for the weak! Change your eating habits, get up EVERYDAY 20 - 30 minutes earlier, RUN, cut back on the cals and watch the weight fall off.

I'll stick with being weak. I get hungry when I run; it just makes me gain weight because I overeat.

Wondering where to start? Confused? "Homework 1" will get you started.

I have the opposite problem. I can go all day on a cup of coffee, go jog 3 miles and my appetite goes away. If I'm not careful I'll shrivel up.
