Question What To Increase Carbs/fat/protein Or Cheat

Hi, I am a new member, training since 2years still experimenting with how my body has changed since losing bf27% to bf15% 102lbs female 5 feet 3inches,as I am petite, I don't want to look bulky but have good muscle defination (great hamstrings, back, tris & bicep) now I am at the stage where my body responses very quickly to any change in training and diet, currently I am eating c170 p150 f55 (all good fat) on 4 training days & non c150 p180 f55, I have a all-natural muffin with latte, whip cream and japanese food here and there, I am gaining muscle (but it doesn't look big)and I am losing weight on my scales, weight is not important, now I am considered how should I stop losing weight and maintain/gain muscle slowly...
If I increase carbs (obviously I feel bloated and sick), more protein also makes me sick...what can I increase in my diet??? should have more semi-cheat meals (like all-natural treats and dining out, as I am still losing weight eating that stuff)....how is unsweetened soya milk in a bodybuilding diet & spelt flour????

How many fat and protein grams were you consuming during this time?

Perhaps the Carb UP will work nicely for you - It goes soemthing along the lines of 25-35g carbs in the mornign(depending on BW) and only 5-10 at all other meals. Every meal contains 10-15g F and certain amnt of protein. Then evry 3rd and 4th day your last meals consists of 1 c oats, 4 oz Sweet potato, banana, and PB to restart your system. It is included in the Sticky I mentioned above.

I can almost guarantee you were not getting enough fat and or protein grams.

Right now, due to a comp, I am only having 10 carbs at each meal-either apple or veggies-and I am NOT usually too hungry and my w/o's have been better than ever.

Low carb can be done- if done the right way

    Howdy

Alot of people report having to adjust to low carb diets for the first week or so, some people dont have the problem but plenty seem to need adjustment time.

    Hi, and welcome

Are you sure you are getting enough fat? I am on much lower carbs than you, and rarely feel hungry lately.

    Good posts everybody

If you decrease your carbs, you definitely need to increase your fats....10-15g at each meal, otherwise, your total daily calories will be too low and you will have nothing but protein to use as energy.

Hi Queen and welcome. If you hang around a while you will learn that this Board and its members are generally very low carb and higher fat dieters -- since they have all been "infected" by W8 and her partner in crime DP.

Now this is a good thing since they have gone a long way toward educating many and in general this is, in my opinion, one of the best "bodybuilding" lifestyle diets.

Based on your posts and what you have told us about your body and the way it respondes. I would not decrease your carbs. Why? You have still been losing weight at the current levels and are now looking to stop it (the weight lose). Since for your size you are getting adequate protein to have a positive nitrogen balance, and I would not recommend adding carbs, I would recommend increasing the food fats. I don't know what you eat, but you can add fats such as flax oil, fatty fish, whole eggs, heavy cream, olive oil (to a lesser degree), lean meats, etc.

Increase it by 10 gs per day for a week and see what happens. Continue to increase it by 10g grams each week until you start noticing that you are gaining weight, then cut back to the previous level.

    Just my 2 cents!

Thanks...for all the feedback...yes on C170 I am losing weight, but as I am training hard I am gaining muscle too...I am 101lbs today..I have increased my fat from 33g to 58g and keep P150-180, right now I am eating lean chicken breast, tuna, eggwhites,all-natural peanut butter soyamilk, and fatty fish twice a week, two weeks I ate saturated fat (beef, creme, eggs) and I notice cellulite on my thighs, freaked out, so switched to unsaturated,so when I increase more fat, how much saturated fat should I have as I want good health too (no heart diseases..lol)...
also don't like whey and postworkout shake, few weeks ago I have started taking table sugar with my postworkout shake (which has MCT and maldextroin in it to) C17 P20 F2, is there a way I can subsitute it for something else????

I know you don't like to use cream, but a popular post workout shake around here is:

Protein powder(free of aspartame,splenda,sucralose- Designer is goof)

    2-3 Tbsp Heavy whipping cream

    3-5 Strawberries

    Blend!

    It is my FAVE

Thanks...I am confused...I use to take my postshake with nonfat all-natural yogurt and banana, than I learned low GI and fructose will delay the digestion of protein, so insuline spike with table sugar or dextrose is best, since than I am doing that...would you suggest, I should stop taking the sugar with the shake..as I take it like medicine...I eat postmeal after 30-90mins??? which is usually lunch, should I switch????

Actually it depends on your goals. I am currently cutting-which is why I do not have the sugar/insulin spike. If you are bulking, you may want to stay with the spike. There was a good thread on this, if I can only find it.......

I want to maintain...as my body had gone through huge change, and I feel I need to respect it..and give it a break, I want to stick to a way of eating for a while, keep on training, gain muscle slowly...how is unsweetned soya milk with banana as postworkout??? do you take dairy???
which oil is best for cooking in your opinion, I appreciate your feedback...have been quite worried for a while, glad have found this forum, I believe in good health along with looking good, and sometimes when I see all these bodybuilding extreme diets, I feel its not balanced, want a balanced diet, lots of energy and strength...so how much saturated fat is safe for me in your opinion??

Well TP, I'll have you know I take offense to that statement....Big Time! Rather than "infecting" people w/ whatever it is you think we do, I prefer to think of what we do as "helping", "informing", "educating"! Now, I could be way off my rocker here, but I think.....just maybe..... there's been a few individuals who've seen success on our diets, who we've helped......not "infected"

I am quite disturbed by this post. If it was not blatantly obvious that I was kidding and using that term in a sarcastic way than I am stunned. The balance of my post, I believe, makes that clear.

I know...I should have littered it with smilies....my bad!

Hmmm, what do I consider low carb....well its a relative term. IN GENERAL, I'd say 50% or more is high carbs, 30-50% is moderate carbs and below 30% to be low carbs, but of course there is low carbs and then THERE IS LOW CARBS.

As I think you know, I do believe that cutting carbs is the "thing to do" when trying to decrease BF.

Use the Smilies or forget it!

    Insulin:

    Everyone Read This!!!!!

I'll save you some time...not with an explanation, but what I was getting at....1 out of 4 or 5 people are non IR...they simply don't understand what it is like to have a body that won't respond to conventional "calories in versus calories out" theory. You may be one of "them" (the non IR's...the minority)......but from your physiognomy and somatotype..I can tell you that you should learn the principles as you age.

Low carb....not in ratio but in grams would be 60 and below.......
