    Tilapia

Whats the latest on Tilapia? I've read more and more about the omega 6 to 3 ratio etc. and that it's one of the worse fish to eat. Is it the farmed only and wild is better if not just as good as any other fish profile? I've been meaning to ask this on here for about a year and really just got around to it. I don't really like Tilapia. I know it is popular because its cheap, but its cheap for a reason. I'm a salmon guy myself.

    Whats up?

I keep my fish intake to primarily wild salmon. I'll buy prawns sometimes, and other fishes like basa on occassion. And, if I'm out of everything and in a rush I'll do the odd can of tuna. I always keep some in stock for protein emergencies -- yes, that's right...protein emergencies.

    Otherwise, salmon all the way.

Really miss the salmon from home. Grew up in Oregon, about an hour from the coast. Amazing seafood in general, and very cheap.

Typically Cold water fish have the good N6:n3 ratios

Tilapia is not one that is a cold water fish.

If you like it eat it. If you are eating it for specific fat breakdowns, I would select another fish.

I lot of the tilipia in US markets comes from China, I don't eat any foods made in China. the fish itself is great as it cooks super fast and taste like whatever you want it to. to bad they are raised in fish poop water
I train differently than most, my beef is with gravity the weights on the bar are just the medium...Thanks to Wall Street your slice of the American Pie has been reduced to a crumb.

Plus Tilapia doesn't have that much fat to begin with.

Tilapia is great for an inexpensive fish. It's low in fat but obviously protein rich loaded with B12 and selenium. Low mercury levels as well. It still has a little n3 but not much. I like it because it's plain and you can make it with anything and as LAM said it will take on the flavor of whatever you cook with it. The bad is that it is farmed.
