A caloric deficit will help you lose weight. If you eat under your maintenance calories, you will have trouble maintaining muscle mass. If your are looking to look slender and agile, you may want to focus on diet and lift less. When I was unable to train after surgery, the muscle disappeared over time.

Eat a little under maintenance and train high-rep and high volume. Plenty of cardio and especially distance-running. Train for a marathon or a half-marathon. Eat enough protein to remain healthy, but no more - you want to be just slightly nitrogen-negative in order to do this, but you don't want to run such a deficit you become ill. Treat this like a long-term project, just like we do while gaining muscle.

Oh yeah, a little T3 could help too. Tough call though, since in a caloric surplus, T3 enhances protein synthesis, and T3 can make you hungry.

T3 increases synthesis of proteins, carbohydrates and fats it does not discriminate.

Good point. I have long suspected it could be helpful during carbups. Got anything on reglycogenation or glucose transport and T3, LAM?

just like you can't spot reduce fat stores the same applies to skeletal muscle. it would come at a loss of skeletal muscle all over the body which would of course cause a decrease in the BMR and a loss of overall functional strength.

what is your height, weight and bf%?

You can spot-grow muscle. Why can't you spot-reduce muscle?

off hand I can only recall that T3 does have a positive effect on Glut-4 transporters and glucose uptake in skeletal and adipose tissues. too much T3 or insufficient carb ingestion for the T3 dosage and you can have hepatic gluconeogenesis ocurring probably because of the way T3 interacts with glucagon.

Interesting. The research appears to be conflicting on this topic; it seems there's a difference between chronic and acute administration of the T3. Chronically elevated levels induce insulin resistance, which is unsurprising given the purpose of insulin resistance under caloric restriction: by preventing reglycogenation, available glucose is instead spared for the brain, reducing dependence upon muscle tissue degradation as a glucose source. It is a protection we have against starvation.

Forgive the threadjack, but LAM, do you have anything more on this T3-glucagon interaction? I'd love to figure out a way to use a low dose of T3 with post workout carbs or for carbups.

there isn't a lot of info on that subject specifically. when I researched it before most of the T3 studies dealt with patients that had issues with insulin resistance, type 11 diabetes, etc. it gets pretty tricky when looking at the metabolism and supplemental T3 so many hormones come into play, FSH, T3/T4, Triac, GH, Ghrelin, Leptin, etc. so it's not apples to apples when trying to compare the effects of low dose T3 on a person with high insulin sensitivity (strength athlete) vs an overweight individual with a high BMI and BF% with very low insulin sensivity

personally knowing what we do about exercise and how it positively effects insulin sensitivity in various cell types and how it increases Glut-4 expression/translocation in muscle I see it only as a benefit. there may even be a synergistic effect between supplemental creatine and T3 in a person with very high insulin sensitivity...

Just run like Forest Gump and do lots of crystal meth. Then hang around with your sister's frineds and help plan Peggy's wedding. If that doesn't work you should hold your breath until you pass out. Once you wake up take 4 shots of tequila and take a dump. That should do it.

Given the remarkable nature of your question, would you mind putting up a picture? I'm quite interested in seeing what you look like.

My guess would be that you probably just need to drop some bodyfat in order to get the look you are trying to achieve.

if you look and are as big muscle wise then i would start competing, if it were me. cause iam 44 and going for pro. thnx to curt, i thought i was washed up. but try competing, youll love the lights and shit. but if u want to take that much muscle off its going to take time to shrink, then do wat Lam and built said, train that way. good luck however u choose, but still let me have some quad meat lol.

less calories will drop the weight. maybe he's being honest and is sick of having a huge body...the GQ look is definitely what most girls prefer and I feel bad for guys with huge legs--hard to look good in nice pants.

In a lot of cases, extra fat tends to add to the bulkiness of a person. A low carb high protein diet may give you that leaned out look
