Doesn't matter.

So Fitday tells me how many calories I am eating per day. And I spread it out every 4 hours or so. Is there a max calorie per meal after which there is no greater muscle growth possible and then would be predisposed to fat?
3500 cal over 5 meals = 700 calories/meal
3500 cal over 6 meals ~ 580 calories/meal
is one better? is 700 too much per meal?

Doesn't matter.

Don't eat more than 1572 calories per meal.

there are only so many cals and/or nutrients that the body can utilize at one time and that amount will vary from person to person depending on the amount of fat free mass and energy requirements of that person. a 500 calorie meal might be huge to a 100 lb sedentary woman but a small snack to a 280 lb weight trainer.
the current level of body fat that a person carries is pretty much a direct indicator of the level of insulin sensitivity in the body. when the body is lean insulin sensitivity is high and as it decreases the body gets fatter, more nutrients are being partitioned into fat cells than the muscle cells.
when you see the body fat increasing first look at the total caloric intake in relation to the level of daily exercise then break down the sources of those cals and clean them up.
