    Question for Built (or others)

As I get closer to my goal of 10% bodyfat (currently around the high 12's low 13's) I am noticing more specific trouble spots. I understand that these are stubborn fat, and will be the last to go, but my question is more about the actual physical composition of this fat.

If you pinch fat between your fingers, it feels like you would expect fat to feel. Loose, squishy, etc. However, around the lower part of my abdomen, and specifically around my navel area, if you pinch the fat, it almost feels like it is full of BB's. Tiny hard balls. Almost like the inside of a bean-bag chair. This fat also seems to not be budging, despite my best efforts.

Any thoughts as to what the hell this is?

Yes ma'am, mainly thanks to you.

I have been googling my little heart out on this, and the only thing I could find about it was on Lyle's site Of Whooshes and Squishy Fat | BodyRecomposition - The Home of Lyle McDonald :

"On a related topic, I wanted to discuss something else that often happens when people are getting very lean and dealing with stubborn body fat: the fat gets squishy, feeling almost like there are small marbles under the skin. Yes, very scientific, I know. That’s the best I can do.

As folks get very lean, down to the last pounds of fat, the skin and fat cells that are left will often change appearance and texture. It will look dimply (as the fat cells which are supporting the skin shrink and the skin isn’t supported) and feel squishy to the touch. This is bad in that it looks really weird, but it’s good because it means that the fat is going away. I have nothing truly profound to say about this topic, just realizes that it happens and usually indicates good things are happening."

So at least I know I'm not a freak, just not sure what the hell it is. It's truly weird feeling. I have been playing with my belly button for 3 days. Maybe thats why the guys I work with are avoiding me now lmao.

I think Lyle's description is as accurate as you're gonna get.

As far as topical creams, etc. reported to "spot reduce" I recall Avant Labs had some products they were working on.....but this was a few years ago, and I believe this is still an area of debate/dispute. Never checked into any injectables....won't speculate on that.

Just quit playing with your belly button! Other than being weird, if you are, in fact, a bean bag, you might punch a hole in yourself and then there'd be those white foam beads all over the place!
