High Protein/High Fat vs. High Protein/Mod Fat

    Howdee!

I have been trying to increase my fats to about 70-80g per day and Protein are about 150-180g....

I am assuming that this would be considered a moderat fat level..

How high can I go before this is considered a High fat level? Would that be considered a keto diet then?

Can someone give me the macros for each type of diet?

Mine come out to about 45%P/10%C/45%F

Lina, "high, low and medium" are just words. Your program looks good, but your carbs are in a range that require a carb-up....or you will eventually compromise thyroid and metabolism

    I favor these numbers...

-protein...2 g per lb of bodyweight ED
-carbs...1 g per lb bodyweight on training days/.5 g on off days
-fats...about .25 g per lb of bodyweight on training days/.5 g on off days

This mix has always been quite successful. DP is right when he says that high, low, medium are just words. Some consider 1 g per lb of bodyweight "high" protein, while I don't really consider anything less than 2 g per lb "high."

Do you use this as a bulking diet or cutting diet?

Also if you drop you carbs/fats on off days do you make up the cals in protein or just eat less cals for those days?

    Depends.......

Poliquin uses every 5 days...some go once a week. I prefer 3-4 days, but have used every other when training "Intensely!"

A persons, metabolism, goals, and training have a lot to do with it!

My two cents on carb ups is that 1 day is often not enough. In my experience, a 5 day low carb, 2 day higher carb routine works best.

Although I do have to change this scheme up with each person I work with b/c of their unique metabolisms, schedules, habits, etc.

    Hey lina...

I use these #s as a starting point for a cutting plan. If you reread my post you will see that on low carb days I will UP THE FATS to make up the calorie deficit. Now, depending on my plan of attack I may actually overcompensate calorie wise with fats on low carb days or, simply even the cals out. This all depends on several factors.

This is my most successful cutting plan in that it seems to work consistently with most bodytypes and men and women alike.
