    Fish Oil over Flax?

I've come upon some statements recently that fish oils are much better than flax.

The basis seems to be the fact that your body doesn't use flax itself, rather it needs to be converted to EPA and DHA, and that the process is very inefficient. You body is more efficient at converting fish oils to DHA and EPA (i don't know why, exactly, maybe its already close to DHA/EPA and it doesn't take too many metabolic processes), hence fish oil is better.

    Opinions?

Most fish oil is contaminated for one...and it is actually age related.

As you age you do assimilate flax less efficiently.

I don't know that it would show up on a test since, although I could be wrong, poppy seed muffins will show up.

Geez, and I thought flax tasted bad , the aftertaste is gone faster than olive oil though.

Yes, hemp oil can show up on drug tests. I didn't know you were an athlete Yanick. Sorry.

W8, why would you stick to flax when the ratios of w3 andw6 is better with hemp oil. Why go the extra mile and look for a another fatty acid to combine with flax oil when you can just take the hemp oil?

    Cheers.

Alot of job sites in the US test for drug useage, not much to do with being an athlete when alot of us could lose our jobs over something like this, Canada must be different.

I happen not to be drug tested at the moment, but shopping for new work could easily end up changing that.

No harm, no foul. I'm not actually an athlete (unless you count bb'ing, but thats a hobby), but my boss is an ass and does test, my parents have also given me one, so i'd rather not take any extra chances.

I would keep taking Udo's but it's too damn expensive.

I believe DP implied it was just 50% safflower and 50% flax?

Udo's is a blend of a bunch of oils, like evening primrose, flax etc etc.

Safflower/flax mix is just the poor man's version of Udo's blend, because i believe the w6:w3 ratios are close.
