    Question Fiber

While counting the total grams of carb in one's diet, should fiber by included or not, for eg:
1Tbsp of flaxmeal has 3.5g carbs all being fiber, will that be counting under the total intake of carbs in your diet or not?? if its not counted than if in most of the meals you are eating fiberous carbs (spinach/lettuce), fiber should be subtracted from the daily count???
Also is fiber included in the count of carbs on labelled products like oatmeal, peanut butter etc?

designing a diet for a client, will appreciate feedback on this...
    Cheers

I only count effective carb grams, which means subtracting fibre...and that's what we do w/ all our clients too. We also don't count the carbs/calories from green leafy veggies.

As for labels, carbs are broken down into fibre (and sometimes sugar and starch), but they are included in the total count...so you would have to subtract them yourself if that's how you choose to count carbs.

I generally don't count them, although I can't speak for your client since I'm not sure the type of diet he/she is on and various other things....basically, if it's just a regular diet (not pre-comp, not keto, etc.) then I'd not worry about it.
