You can do it either way...I would suggest not counting the fibre...so you'd go w/ the 12 g.
I'm unsure as to whether or not you should count all the carbohydrate grams in a certain food, or should you substract the fiber from your totals? (i.e. if a slice of bread has 14g carbs, with 2g fiber, would that be 12g carbohydrates total?)

High-fiber diet
