Hey there - read homework 1 in my sig. It's all in there.

Hey Everyone!
This is my first time on Iron Mag and I hope that with this amazing resource I can begin my road on health and nutrition!
To start I am 21 years old, 5 foot 9, 290lbs at 40% Body Fat (Yes I know its terrible!)
Using an online calorie calculator, I calculated that my maintenance calories would be 3040 calories per day if I exercised 5 times a week
What I would like to know is how many calories can I reduce this to for healthy and optimal weight loss?
Along with this I would like to follow my macro-nutrients.
What kind of a macro ratio would allow healthy and optimal weight loss?
How would I cycle all this? I've read a few articles that suggest cycling calories and macros to avoid hitting a plateaus. Also, when would it be time to change up my caloric count or macro ratios?
Thank you everyone in advance! I'm new to this but I'm dedicated to learning from you all!

Okay, so I spent a few hours on my "homework" lol and i think I have a pretty solid base to start with!
My fitness goal would obviously to cut at first (Get down to at least 10% BF)
To do this I would probably have to get down to a weight of about 193lbs out of which 174 lbs would be my lean weight body mass.
I'm going to include 200g of proteins, 90g of fats and, 150g of carbs, making sure I do not exceed 2400cal (My maintenance is about 3000cal)
In terms of exercise I'm starting off with doing the p90x workouts for now (I mentioned this in the training boards) and then working my way up to a better workout at a gym.
Not sure if I did everything correctly but then again I'm the student doing the homework and you could be the teachers who mark it! hehehe
Anything I missed/did wrong/could improve?

This sounds great.
Get yourself into some heavier lifting so you have a transition from p90x - you can do that level of activity when you're still a little juicy, but you will want to transition into heavier weights, lower rep ranges and shorter workouts as your cut progresses; and yes, I know this sounds counterintuitive but you'll see that it works very nicely.
