    whats more healthy

diet after diet trying to lose fat, or just being happy with your overweight body?

I feel so drained all the time, and I think it is because I always want to lose weight. I usually diet for about 3 days, and than i get into a shitty mood and pig out. Than the next day I start over.

is it possible to be happy with your body and continue sticking to a diet?
maybe I should stop trying and accept my body and ill be a lot more healthy.

The first problem is how you look at it. If its a "Diet", then you'll fail. If its a "Lifestyle", easy peasy. "Diets" fail because they are usually too extreme, so completely different from you normally eat, that they aren't sustainable. And then you get annoyed, sick of it, go pound food and feel like a failure.

Post up your current stats & your current diet - in detail - need to understand what is "normal" for you. Usually a couple minor tweaks and a little thought out into food prep, and you're off and running. It takes patience tho. You can't "eat clean" for 3 days, jump on the scale and be pissed because you didn't drop 20 lb yet.

Yep...it's going to HAVE to be a lifestyle change. You need to start picking things here and there and stick to it. Make desserts a once a week thing, try to get some leafy greens everyday, or every other day, or try to cut out bread, etc., pick a couple of keys to work on so you don't go crazy. Plus if carbs are your thing you may very well be addicted for all intents and purposes. I'm really in the school of thought that sugar is a drug. And the way the liver treats hfcs is much like that of ethanol. I'm a sugar/starch/carb fiend.

Exactly what they're saying man^^ .. try to gradually adjust your eating habits and eliminate or substitute out your unhealthy food choices one at a time. take it slow and pace yourself so you dont burn out and binge eat, try to keep the mindset that this is a new way of eating and living and keep your mind on the positive outcome of this new eating pattern. It will make it much easier to stick with it and when you start to see the results of your hard work it will be that much more motivation to keep going. good luck, and as Sassy said, post up your stats and current diet if you would like - it would be much more effective to give suggestions if we have an idea of where you are now with your diet and physique/health

Takes time and it is best done gradually if you are looking to make real dietary changes. Merkaba and Sassy are on the money with their feedback, and you should definitely post your stats and food intake. You can get a lot of help on this site if you take the time to post up the suggested information.

Sassy, can I hijack this for a second? I'm kinda in the same boat...

I'm 5'10, 39 years old, 260 lbs! UGH.... I used to be 185.... I know it is a lifestyle change and i have been trying. My breakfast usually consists of, eggs... 3 scrambled or sunnyside or a turkey, cheddar and egg omelette and a large coffee with cream and 1 Splenda. First snack is either a Fiber one bar or Chobani Yogurt. Lunch Can be anything, usually leftovers from previous dinner, or tuna sammy on wheat or Natty PB and Jelly on wheat. Second snack is usually an apple or peach or banana or a handful of roasted almonds. Dinner is up in the air... lots of chicken stuff with peas or green beans, I HATE fish, but will stomach cod if needed. Also, not a veggie person at all.. beans and peas are about it, although I do like celery plain and sometimes will do that as a snack. I might have to ditch this last thing... when I relax at night I have a spoonful of Natty PB and glass of 1% milk... I LOOOOOOOVE milk and have forced myself a few years ago to ditch the whole milk and got myself down to 1% but can't do skim. I drink lots of water and also make my own green tea using just tea bags and drink it chilled.

Anything really stand out to you that screams STOP DOING THAT!? LOL

I'm still working on a workout routine... lifting mostly but think I should stop that and do mostly cardio, like Insanity or 10 minute trainer type stuff.

    Thx for the help,
    Marc

You don't have to give up. If you want to lose weight set a target weight each month. It is not an easy task to lose weight. Don't give up. I always watch the biggest loser in Asia. It gives me an inspiration that someday, I'll attain the body weight that I dreamed off.
