WTH is the "The Zone" diet?

My wife was talking about this the other day. I guess a friend of her's is doing it or thinking about doing (I wasn't really paying attention).

What is it? I've heard of it, but don't want to buy a book or anything about it. Just wondering if anyone can give me a quick rundown on it.

It's a moderate carb diet if I'm not mistaken. It's the big "hollywood" thing because there are places that deliver Zone based meals to your door. I believe it's more of a balance rather than restricted carbs.

    Ahh, Ok. Thanks.

Sounds like a $$ maker rather than a true diet. Luckily my wife is pregnant at the moment, so she can't do this with her friend if she wanted to. LOL

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I just read the book and looked thru the website. I think the Zone Diet says almost exactly what alot of nutrition gurus on here say. My wife is interested in learning more about carb restricted diets and she's read the BFL book but didn't get a darn thing out of it. I told her to stay away from the Atkins book.

It seems to me that the Zone Diet isn't a weight loss diet but a way of eating for life. Even though it may not work well for bodybuilders, it should work for the average person. I'd like to know what the board's "experts" think.
