My diet please tell me if its good

Hey I'm almost 19, about 162 pounds and I wanted to get ripped. I can see a bit of my abs, but I still got those love-handles so here's my diet(rememeber it may be sometimes out of order):

When I wake up: 7 egg whites, 1 apple and handful of peanuts

2nd meal: 6 inch grilled chicken sub, fresh veggies, no sauce, no cheese with some peanuts.

3rd meal: 2 pieces of grilled chicken, salad

4th meal: protein shake, peanuts(my only lovable way of getting fat)

5th meal: 2 pieces of grilled chicken, salad or maybe veggies like broccoli, and some peanuts.

Once a week I cheat with chocolate chip cookies from McDonalds, and maybe muffins or a donut.

Here it is. I must say I hate tuna, and stuff so I won't be adding that, but any other help, please let me in. I'm about maybe 9-10% (I can see mostly my upper abs) and I wanna be about 6% Thanks.

How many caloires/protien/carbs/fat per day does this come out to......how many peanuts are you eating at each sitting? Nuts are super calorie dense and they may be what is keeping you from getting supper shredded.

Also your refeed (your cheat meal/day) doesn't consist of the best carb choices, there is a lot of fat there. This could also play a role in keeping you from getting your body fat real low.

How tall are you? How strong are you? What does your lifting schedule look like? If you're 162lbs, sounds like you have a pretty high metabolism, unless you're like 5'2!! hehe...I am kinda in your same boat here...I try to eat as "good" as possible...but occasionally cheating doesn't bother me much right now...I'm trying to pack on muscle and size and strength...later I'll worry about being ripped...do you want just to be ripped? even though your muscles are puny? or do you want huge muscles AND be ripped? ...that's my choice!

Just because some one has low body weight does not mean that there muscles are punny. Often times being ripped makes you look bigger than you weigh. I have seen guys who are shreded at 160lbs but they look like they weigh a hell of a lot more.

But then again weigh a hell of a lot more and being ripped would be impressive!

I think I'd throw some lean beef and fish into it. I'd get rid of the peanuts (how many are you eating?), but I prefer almonds .

What kind of eating are you gearing for? Mass, cutting, etc? Unclear if you want to cut, or gain mass.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I have always tried to get the vitamins, nutrients etc while still eating healthy. Your diet seems like it may be lacking some essential vitamins, minerals and oils.

Eat Tuna once or twice a week. Eat some lean beef here and there. Unless you have some kind of allergy or lacto thing going on, add some cheese, yogurt, or cottage cheese. Fruit is a good thing, add some different kinds (add strawberries to your shakes), eat a banana every once in a while, etc.

I'm trying to get down to 6 or 7% bf also and I stay away from the yogurt and banana except on a refeed maybe!

Actually, the banana could work if you use it for a post insulin w/o spike, then its cool.

Hey thanks guys. I wan to know if chili is OK on a cut diet? Is medium-lean beef OK? I was going to get lean beef, but they say its hard to cook without oil and I like to make chili. In the chili I put the beef, kidney beans, chick peas, broccoli, spinch, tofu, lentil beans, and celery added into tomato sauce. Is this OK? I have like a bowl (maybe say about 2 cups full) and I know the beef has fat so I don't add oil to the chili, and the extras I've included in there adds my carbs and protein.

    My stats are as follows.

Age 18, 6'0, anywhere between 160 and 165(after christmas), thought usually I'm at 155 usually which is low I know but I still have those damn love handles. If I tuck my tummy in tight I can see them but if I let it be I can see minimial so I still do have a strip of fat.

I work out about 4-5 times aiming at hitting upper body twice a week, and legs once. I have a fairly big body, but I'm lean looking if you know what I mean.

I do about umm this is tough to say but for cardio it varies sometimes as low as 20 minutes or as high as 45 minutes. I do cardio again about 5 times a week.

I usually work-out in the evening. I don't have time in the morning except saturdays when I go like 11 or 12. But usually its between 5 and 8 pm.

So any help or if any before has tried a successful cut diet please share.

Also for stretch marks, does tanning help to cover them? I'm a bit dark colour myself in between brown and white, but my strech marks are visible on my love handles, upper arms and under armpit. I did have a serious rash 4 years ago in the same places which could have added damage but now their strech marks so if theirs a product that helps to remove them somewhat or hide them , I would love to know. Thanks.

as far as chili goes..I would say NO for a cut because of the tomato sauce, but I'm no expert! ask DP or w8lifter...

I think you'd be best to try to build that muslce...more muscle increases your metabolism and you can burn fat easier...you sound like a hard gainer...like me...I cut out cardio all together, but that's just me and we may have different goals in the long run...but nix the chilli

about your workouts...do you work out 3 hours straight? or just sometime in bewtween 5-8pm..cuz you should spend no more than 1.5 hrs in the gym..sometimes I get to talking to someone and I'm in there forever, but for lifting...keep it 1-1.5 hours...otherwise, you're overtraining and seriously screwing yourself!

I agree with freeman. Sorry dude no chili. Also don't go crazy on the cardio (i wouldn't do any until you really need it). Cardio isn't going to help you get ripped at 6%. You need to put together a good training split and maybe even decrease the time you are in the gym like freeman said (I try and go about 45min-1hr)

Be patient. I am also trying to get down to about 6% BF and I can tell you that once you get below 10% things can get tricky. It takes a lot of planning and determination. You are going to have to get real strict with your diet and your training if you want to get to 6%.

I doubt that's true. Don't we need some fat on our bodies just to live?

I actually think that I read some where that if your bf% drops below 4 or 5% it is dangerous. He probably eats like crap and gets away with it because being a NFL football player is an extremly active profession. I mean I think I would need a ton of carbs to get threw two a days and workouts like they do. I also I am sure that they were over exagerating the amount of crap he eats. Maybe he just eats like that once a day, like when he is out with his friends......It must be nice.lol
