    Question fruit carbs question

    Hi everyone!
I'm new here and I had a question about carbs....
I don't eat sweet potatoes or grains (oats) or yams etc. and instead I eat fruits in the morning for carbs...usually an apple or a grapefruit or some papaya. Is there a difference as far as getting lean if you use fruit carbs over say, oatmeal? I thought I had read something about fruit being bad because of fructose....
Anyway, after my pre and post workout meals (I workout in the morning) I eat lots of veggies and protein (meat, eggs) and no fruit. My carb counts for the day come out around 150-200 carbs daily (including vegetable carbs). Is this high? Do you count carbs from veggies? Thanks in advance for any advice.

No you don't have to count your carbs from veggies because of the high fiber content. Apples and grapefruits have fiber but you need to count the other carbs in them into your daily amount.
100-150g of carbs a day seems really high for a cut.
Are you losing weight with your carbs that high?

Guys/gals....IMO there is soooo much talk about carb content....where are the proponents of total cals? Right now I am 11 weeks out from a bodybuilding competition....carbs including vegies are still about 200 grams per day and I'm still dropping bodyfat. I have never done a precontest diet before with such high carbs...but things are working well and my energy and attitute is so much better than in the past.

I don't think that everyone on the board needs to be so concerned with carb content...IMO...eat quality carb sources in reasonable amounts and at the appropriate times and the weight will still come off. As you become very lean...say 6 weeks out from competition shape you will likely be forced to drastically reduce carbs to lose the last bit of stubborn fat.

PLEASE SHOW NO HATE..... It's just my little rant.....IMO..too much emphasis is carbs instead of calories.

    Have a great day.....

FF it all depends on the person. I find I' m not so bloated and I loose fat quicker by keeping my carbs under 30 per day and carbing twice a week. I have tried it both ways and this is what works best for me. Now I'm doing a 12 week cut so probably in a few more weeks I will try something different so my body doesn't get use to it. Then I will probably go to 90G of healthy carbs a day and no carb ups.

It just depends on what works best for you!

    Thank you Jodi. I agree.
Carbs are necessary on a cut to keep your body from breaking down muscle mass. You need to find out the maximum amount of carbs you can take in one day while still losing weight. Everyone is different. Not everyone can get shredded at 200g of carbs per day. I personally would feel bloated if I was consuming that many carbs per day during a cut.
