When on the Road or on the Go snacks and meals?
When your on the Road or on the Go where you dont have time to eat or prepare a good meal at home what are some items or ideas you could pick up when on the Road. Like when a snack is needed, Whats a healthy snack from a gas station. Everything seems loaded with suger. How about places to eat, I dont eat fast food and the only place I think of is subway. Anyone with some ideas here.
thanks |

Gas station....usually have fresh fruit like apples and bananas....also try skim milk, nuts and seeds (unsalted/roasted).
Nothing great but it beats many of the alternatives. Places to eat...most fast-food places you can get a grilled chicken sandwich....combine it with a milk if they don't serve baked potato or salads. Personally..I'd order 2 grilled chickens and throw out one of the buns. |

When on the road you can get nuts, and some fruit at gas stations and rest stops. Also, you can buy beef jerkey at most gas stations. Or even protein bars (like balance bars) can be purchased at gas stations/rest stops. The best thing to do is to pack up a cooler of food though. Drink water.
When eating out on the road, if you don't have enough money to go to a resturaunt where you can make better food choices, and are forced to eat at rest stops you can buy burgers or chicken sandwiches and throw out the bun. Most fast food places have salads to offer. I have found that a lot of rest areas now have deli type places and/or salad bars where you can get some tuna salad or chicken. |

How long are you "on the road"? In other words, are you out during the day only? When I traveled, whether for the day or for the week, I'd pack a cooler. Chicken breasts did pretty well, raw veggies do well, and I always took a couple of MRP's just in case.

get some packaged chunklight tuna before you head out...just tear off the top & grab a fork, & can be stored at room temp.
