    High level of Cholesterol

My cholesterol was measured at 292. This is coming from a clinic that took my blood sample for life insurance purposes. I'm going to get another blood sample taken by my Doctor.

I was wondering if there's something in my nutrition that would cause it to be so high. Would high protein cause this, how about supplements?

    Thanks.

Here's what my daily nutrition/supplements looks like:

    9am
    - Eggs, 1 whole / 4 whites (scrambled)
    - 1/2 cup (before cooking) oatmeal w/ 1 tsp PB, dash of cinnamon
    - Multi-Vitamin
    - 3 liver tablets

    12pm noon
    - 2 scoop protein shake w/ frozen strawberries, creatine

    3pm
    - lean meat
    - 1/2 cup brown rice
    - steamed veggies
    - 3 liver tablets

    6pm
    - 2 scoop protein shake w/ 1 tblsp heavy cream

    9pm
    - lean meat
    - 1/2 cup brown rice
    - steamed veggies
    - 3 liver tablets

    12 midnight
    - 2 scoop protein shake w/ glutamine
    - 1 tblsp flax oil
    - 1 gram vitamin C

    or

    - cottage cheese w/ glutamine
    - 1 tblsp flax oil
    - 1 gram vitamin C

Was the lipid profile done after a fast of 12-14 hours or more? Did you have any liquids other than water?

Does high CHOL run in your family (genetically linked) ?

The lab technician who took the blood sample said to fast for 3-4 hours prior....had breakfast at 8am and then sample was taken at 12:30noon, I remember cause I was very hungry and mad cause it was throwing my meal timing off for the day During the fast I drank plenty of water.

Now that you mentioned it, I believe Mom has/had high Chol, I'll have to ask her...totally forgot about genetic links...

    thanks

Max....your program looks good and tight, Cholesterol lowering ...but you need a 12 hour fast...and when you check relatives, go back as far as GP's and all of their and your parent's siblings.....

We have a good post on how to lower this...but that test timing was aweful!
