Arrow Mum's worried about my diet

Well, it's what they do best, eh?
Anyway, I'm almost 17 and I've been lifting for almost a year. My main aim is to increase muscle mass. I know that at my age I shouldn't be going on diets the same way you guys do (bulking/cutting phases etc), so I don't.
Instead I just try to balance my diet right according to what I read here - there are many posts about teen eating plans.
Thing is, my mother keeps worrying that I'm eating too much protein and saying that I'll damage my kidneys etc. I consume protein in every meal (as well as carbs & fat), but to her it looks really excessive. I weigh approx 150lbs and eat less than 150g of protein daily because I find it difficult to get much more in.
Of course I tell my mother that since I lift, I have a much greater need for protein than that blessed RDA says I do. Also she swears by that damn food pyramid which puts carbs at the bottom (eat shitloads of) and fats at the top (avoid like the plague).

What can I tell my mother to try and reassure her? I know she's just looking out for me etc but when I try to tell her that I read all this from reliable sources, she just dismisses it & says the internet's full of misinformation, & I don't now what's best BLAblabla. Basically her beliefs will not be shaken.
Also, she wants to make an appointment with a nutritionist so that we can discuss my diet with a professional - fair enough, though I have a feeling he/she'll just tell me the same stuff my mom tells me. Obviously I want to do what's best/healthiest for me, but sometimes I think these people just won't see 'my side'.

Does this happen to others out there? Any suggestions? What shall I tell her? What shall I expect from a nutritionist?

    Thanks a bunch

Just give her a near-fatal bludgeoning, and that'll sort her.

Failing that, try and explain that the RDA is horrendously outdated, horrendously underspecified, and totally useless for the "normal" person, let alone athletes.

Kidney problems from protein occurs in those with pre-existing kidney problems. Providing you ain't got those then you're good.

Failing that, the near-fatal bludgeoning sounds quite appealing, eh?

Ask your mother to explain to you exactly how a high protein diet causes kidney damage. Then report back here cause I am very curious to know her answer.

If she has no answer then you can tell her to shut up.

Ah, if only it were that easy...
Whenever things get technical she always retorts using her trusty: "Too much of anything is bad for the body".
It's like her swiss army knife of comebacks.

Anyway, she finally made an appointment yesterday with a nutritionist for a few weeks time, and though she thinks she's gonna 'prove me wrong', it'll prob be the other way round.
Til then I'm not bring up the subject again (not much point). As long as she's not on my back about it then I don't really care.

I always have the info here to rely on
