Welcome.
I good start would be to post your current diet.
Hi! What a awesome site you have here! I have been ignoring my poor son all morning, just sitting here reading all this info! Now, if someone would be o kind as to help a newbie, i would be forever grateful!
Ok, I am soon to be 31, female, 5'5, and currently 132 pounds. this weight is up for me from 120, which I maintained almost effortlessly for over a year. I felt good, and looked good too. I now know that this may have been from my hyperT condition. I always watched what i ate(was much heavier my entire life) and exercise has been a mainstay for years. Anarobic and aerobic, although I don't love aerobic!
The gain I had was recent and all with in 3-4 months, as I quit smoking as well. So, that coupled with manipulating my TSH, I feel doomed! I did a 6 week stint of CKD with no results, only to try a higher carb approach and to that I owe about 4 pounds.
I would love to heal myself, while losing this weight. Is that even possible? I have read so much about hypOs taking much effort to lose, but it is possible. I being hyper think that my efforts are undermining my meds, or vice versa. Do you know what I mean? All the tips are to spead metab, while my meds are trying to slow it. I want to avoid ablation, so does that mean I just let myself go?
So, yes, I work out, and would love some guidance there, and yes, can/will eat LC, as I don't seem to gain from that. I have to diet to maintain.![]()
Any advice for the mess I just spewed forth? Thanks!

LOL! The nature of this beast is sometimes I am wired and sometimes I could fall asleep while driving!
1) Do you have child(ren).. Yep, 2
2) if so, when and when did they diagnose you? DD is 6 and DS is 2. I was Dxed in Oct 2002
3) DO you know your last blood test results? Yep: Arpril 23 TSH:.04, FT4: .15 T3 130
4) What Meds 10 mgs of Tapazole.
I'll be right back!

I know about the metabolism slow down when one quits smoking. It sucks! I don't know what all this gain can be hung on, as it was a double whammy to my body!(quit smoking Jan 1, and doubled my meds[5-10mgs] in Dec.) So, am I doomed!? Oh, I started green tea as I have read it can speed met by about 4%.
I honestly did concider smoking again, but I'm not completely stupid! And that's it for the meds.
thanks!
Last question, what was the comment/explanation about TSH being .04 from you health care provider?
Sorry to get personal, did you breast feed (how long), and did the hyper symptoms start shortly after, or can you correlate them to your last child in any way
DP
Well, my PCP was glad about the TSH, as I decided to take myself off of Tap. I was supposed to be on 5mgs at that point, and yet was feeling slightly hypo(cold, and rising temps bellied out), so I was off for about 2 weeks. Tap's half-life is pretty short, so she wanted to baseline my TSH, again. She said it was OK, and to be expected. I am due for labs on May 23.
Not a personal question at all about the breast feeding! It's a beautiful thing!I BF both kiddos, and the time doesn't match up for weaning and dx. Unless it was there all along, ya know? I know you are a thyroid crusader, so that's hy I thought you may have a thought or two. Ya know what sucks is that *I* requested the labs! My OB never ran anything, despite PPD with my DD(6yo)! I went to my PCP and explained depression symptoms, and anxiety, and libido(how's that for personal!) and suggested a lab! Healthcare in the good USA, huh?!
So. like I stated, I would love to keep my thryroid, while leaning out. Is this a oxymoron of sorts? Am I thwarting my thyroids efforts to heal?
edited to add: I BF DD(6yo) for 3 months, and DS(2 yo) for 7 months.
I think there are a few issues here, but will have to get back to you later

Hmm. Well I seem to be down a couple of pounds this morning, so something is working! Can't wait to hear further suggestions on how to get tight by oh say, June 1!

PPD, PCP sounds like drugs.....(Post Partum Depression, Primary Care Provider)
C, First know that I am not a medical doctor...K?I personally think your thyroid baseline may be low, considering that .4 not .04 is the lower range, and I understand that they're are trying to supress it, and your other T's values were ok...jmho
But I have been thinking about your situation, and although I think there may be some secondary hormonal issues like estrogen dominance/low test, I think your thyroid is the catalyst here. (we can Pm on this as you go if you want) Better nutrition should have a positive effect on the situation
All that aside, we need to leave your meds/condition in the hands of the Health Professionals...while we seek to optimize your Nutrition/Training Programs here. At least that way we will know if we can make the body composition changes you want, or are thwarted along the way.
Ready?

Dr: I know you are not a "dr.", but you seem to know your stuff, even anecdotatlly(is that a word?)! Thought I'd pick your brain a bit. I posed the same question to a noted thyroid expert on the about site, and she didin't see a problem with my efforts. So, I am putty in your proverbial hands!
