    Anybody tried it? Is this on the IM list of "approved foods?"

    Its got soy and wheat bran in it. ***IMO - I would not***

    Actually I'm pretty sure it is high on the GI. Wheat bran is a good source of insoluable fiber but on a cut there are better places to get your fiber. Besides wheat bran is more considered a grain than fiber and should be counted as so. I've also read that many people that suffer from IBS don't really benefit from wheat bran fiber and it actually makes them feel worse, so why bother.

    There is a study I've seen about wheat bran actually not really having any benefits towards glycemic control. I'll find this study this morning.

    So I don't think its bad but I think there are better things in place of it.

    I can't find a good reference on the GI of wheat bran?? I see that rice bran is super low though.

    How about just using flax meal mixed in with old fashioned oats? Is that ok on the GI scale? I love the nutty taste that the flax meal gives my cereal!!! Please tell me this is ok!

    By all means go right ahead.

    Flax meal is great. I personally don't care for the taste of which is why I would never do it but if you like it, Have at it.
