    Sweeteners..

For those who use sweeteners in coffee, (I know we should avoid it all together), whats a better choice?

    Sweet and Low
    Splenda
    Equal

Just curious. I use sweet and low and feel guilty.

    Thx,
    Julie

i believe (correct me if i'm wrong) that Sweet and Low is Saccharine, and as far as I know, this is probably the safest (and best tasting in my opinion) of them all. I think it's been around the longest and has claimed the life of only one mouse after being fed some rediculous amount.

Sweet n low is disgusting! After taste and all. Sucralose (splenda) tastes the most like sugar IMO. Stevia is nice once you get used to it.

actually, yeah splenda is better tasting in general, but for some reason sweet & low tastes best in coffee...

i don't know much about stevia, i'll have look into it more, but splenda (sucralose), while most likely safe, has had some negative press:

Saccharine has been around for something like 60 years, and no bad side effects have yet to be linked to it.

Apartame has some bad stuff written about it as well:

    Julie,
I use Splenda. Stevia is the best but expensive and it does have a funny aftertaste.

The stevia I get from netrition has a trace of rice maltodextrin in it, so if you like that kind of taste...... Also the rice malto is supposed to help with blood glucose control.

Stevia is best. Splenda is my second choice because it has very little to no effect on the blood sugar. I'll use Sweet-n-low if I have to, and will outright avoid Equal, sugar, and other sweeteners.
