Top 4 Foods For Gaining Muscle and Getting Strong

Let's face the fact, gaining muscle can be difficult as it takes following a good muscle building diet and a proper muscle building workout routine in order to build quality muscle. Most people think that by just lifting weights, they can build a chest like Arnolds but in reality it takes much discipline and following a proper bodybuilding lifestyle in order to get huge.

Nutrition is one of the biggest factors in whether or not you build the body you always wanted as in the end of the day you are what you eat. This said, in order to properly get into shape you will need to make sure you are eating foods that will help you gain quality muscle as well as not gain too much in fat. Here are the top 5 foods that will help you gain the muscle you desire.

    1. Eggs - eggs are one of the best sources of quality protein available, are extremely easy to prepare and taste great. When eating eggs, try to aim for a maximum of 6 yolks a week as although egg yolk contains many vitamins it is also a high cholesterol food. The good news is that you can eat as many egg whites as you want as they are low in cholesterol. The average egg contains 6 grams of protein - 3 in the yellow, 3 in the white.
    2. Chicken Breast - tastes great, is low in fat, easy to cook and full of protein, chicken breast is probably the staple food in bodybuilding. The best part of eating chicken breast is the fact that you can eat them along with any side dish whether being brown rice, whole wheat pasta, sweet potato or salad.
    3. Whey Protein - although many may not consider whey a food, it is easily one of the must eat foods if you want to increase muscle mass. Whey is easy to prepare and low calorie as well as it is the best choice to take right after a hardcore workout as all you do is add water and shake.
    4. Oatmeal - you may be thinking how is oatmeal good for bodybuilding, but the truth is that oatmeal is not just good for people working out, it is nearly perfect as it is an excellent source of dietary fiber, protein and low glycemic carbohydrates. All which you need when weightlifting. Try eating a bowl in the morning as this will both help stabilize blood sugar levels and give you the fuel to exercise hard.

So try adding these foods to your diet plan and workout program and you will definitely see some great mass building results. It may take time, but with the right amount of patience, you can be sure to be on the road to being the next Arnold.

    According to Whom?

Exactly, who has rubber stamped these foods as the Top 5?

    1. Eggs are definitely a good food. However, the "high cholesterol" issue is nuts.

Seventy percent of your cholesterol is produced by your own body. So, if you have high cholesterol, blame one or both of your parents.

Secondly, cholestorol is vital to hormonal (testosterone) production.

      Health Issues of Cholesterol

The propaganda on how it is bad for you is based on teh Seven Countried Study by Ancel Keys in the 1950s or 1940s.

Keys' surveyed 22 countries. Out of the 22 Keys only found 7 that suppored his premise that cholesterol cause cardiovacular problems.

So, Keys threw the other 15 countries data in the trash. That not science. It propaganda.

      Personal Experience

I did the Anabolic Diet for a year. Monday through Friday, it was High Protein (150-200 gram per day), Super High Fat (150-200 gram per day) and Low Carbs (50 -100 gram per day).

My fat consumpiton was from a dozen eggs, up to a pound of bacon and/or a pound of beef. My blood profile came out great!

And eating all that fat didn't make me fat.

      New Research

New research show that cholesterol isn't the monster it has been protrayed to be. Drs Robert Lustig and Johnny Bowden are two individuals who are trying to Re-Educate the public.

I love chicken. However, beef is a much better muscle builder.

Whey is an "anabolic" protein. It is high in Leucine. Leucine is considered to be an "anabolic trigger" that turns on the muscle making machinery.

However, what does being "low calorie" have to do with it unless someone is cutting.

Increasing muscle mass means you need to increase you caloric intake.

Post Workout

Whey is an excellent Pre, Peri and Post Workout beverage when mixed with a high glycemic index carbohydrate. About 4:1 carbohydrates to protein works best (Reserach Dr John Ivy/University of Texas).

Caseinate

Caseinate should be added to Pre, Peri and Post Workout beverages. Caseinate is an "anti-catabolic" protein. Caseinate is more of a "time released" protein.

Thus, the combination of whey (fast) and caseinate (slow) provide a synergistic effect. Think of 2 + 2 = 5!

just eat vegetables fruits cereals grains and fish all these can contain more than enough protein and carbs you need for energy and to build muscles. milk products eggs and meat are ok too but not everyday to avoid cholesterol build up for people predisposed to it unless you eat egg whites only.
protein needs are easily covered by a healthy balanced diet

To build LBM be specific with your intake in grams of protein, steak, fish, chicken, eggs, dairy, whey, casein, nuts, are all good sources. For optimum energy levels and a lean body composition grams of good fats and carbs will vary on the daily.

That true for the averge individual. However, research and anecdotal data indicate that those who push the limits, need additional protein and othe macro-nutrients.

So much importance being emphasized on what to eat when it should be what to eat when. Proper nutrient timing of the right foods is the key to going beyond just eating these rubber stamped so called muscle building foods.
