    Protein drink B/4 weightlifting???

There is another thread about not having a P drink B/4 cardio because your body will use it for fuel.

Does that hold true for lifting?

Is it better to go to the gym (I'm speaking early am) on empty or with a P drink in your system?
I love the sound of clanging iron in the morning. It sounds like victory.

I dont know if the same is true for everyone but i personally feel like i have a better workout when i eat something small or have a protein shake before i lift. more so i think early am when my stomach is empty from sleeping.

The thread you were referring to was concerning having protein before cardio first thing in the morning when looking to cut....definately eat before lifting...I always have a protein shake with some flax and a few strawberries about an hour before.

You will need to eat again immediately after lifting also.
    Searching for the right balance...

Yep, by the time lifting happens you hopefully have been eating already. You aren't lifting to burn fat, you are lifting to gain muscle - so you need protein and energy already in the system

I dont know if I would want to have a p drink before leg day. I have chucked during leg workouts. I figure a p drink is pretty bad in reverse order.

I never drink protein before lifting because I get too hungry too fast and I don't like the liquid feeling in my stomach before lifting. Instead I eat real food about and 45 mins - 1 hour before I lift. Then I drink protein within 1/2 hour - 1 hour after I'm done lifting.

If I'm doing morning cardio then I don't eat anything before hand and I wait 1/2 hour after to eat.

I keep protein drinks to 12oz liquid or less, its a supplement so its not going to have so much in there that it requires lots of liquid. When I used to use night formula stuff though it would go up to 3 cups water.
