    Bulking & Bodyfat

I started bulking about a week ago (I know it's summer but I didn't want to wait untill the fall/winter months to start building muscle) and while bulking I wanted to make sure that I was really building muscle without a lot of fat. I bought the Fat Track II Digital Skinfold Caliper so I could track my bf %. The problem is i'll use it and and get one measurement then use it again right after that and get another one that's a few percent off. I've seen my bf as low as 9% and as high as 13-14% within a days time. What's the best way then to assure i'm gaining mostly muscle? If I weigh myself at the same time everyday and am gaining over maybe 1 1/2 or 2 lbs a week that is most likely fat correct?

You should have someone else take your skin folds for you. You cannot accurately take your own folds due to different angles and having to reach certain ways for the pinch. Plus the digital ones aren't very good. You would be better off with a metal set by Accumeasure.

If you are gaining 1-1.5lbs of fat every week some of it is fat and you would hope (depending on how clean your diet is) that some of it will be muscle. Forget about the bf% just go by the mirror it tends to tell the real story anyway. If you really want to get picky then take measurements of your waist and bi's weekly. If your waist is getting to big to fast then you are doing something wrong. Post your diet.

    Meal one
    Oatmeal w/ strawberries
    Egg white Omlette
    1 tbs flaxseed oil

    Meal Two
I have canned chicken similar to tuna fish but tastes better and has a little more protein.
    brown rice
    celery w/ natural pb
    apple

    Meal Three
    Chicken Breast
    Potato
    celery w/ natural pb

    Meal Four
    Chicken or steak or venison
    potato
    salad
    apple

    Meal Five
    Protein shake
    1 tbs flaxseed oil

    Meal Six
    Usually another protein shake

On workout days usually meal two will be after work out and i'll have a shake, banana and a large potato then for meal five i'll have chicken or an omlette or something.

Also i'm not sure about how much cardio I should do etc.
