    Skipping meals!

Even with the wealth of knowledge out there regarding nutrition, I still hear from people on a daily basis how they skip meals to try and lose weight. Please, please, please understand that the only thing this will do for you is SLOW, not speed your metabolism...and, cause you to LOSE muscle tissue, which results in a higher bodyfat %.

Skipping meals is NOT the answer. Calorie control, proper macronutrient breakdown, frequent small feedings, and meal timing IS!

I was in the sauna the other day and this guy starts telling me how he just cannot lose body fat. He says he only eats once a day and that it is at night after work.

I consider myself a novice at this nutrition stuff, but even I could diagnose his problem. The trouble is, you can't convince them that eating more will help them lose weight.

Exactly Pepper, people are brainwashed. They often times will not listen to what anyone tells them in regards to nutrition. It makes sense to them that eating less and less can only result in fat loss and no one can tell them differently.

The same thing go's with fats. Most of your average people trying to lose fat will do all they can to eat no fat at all. As long as it says "fat free" on the package it's all for them.

I've done my best to teach all that i've learned over the past 6 months and have done a pretty good job. I've helped my mom, dad, sister, and a few other of their friends all lose fat, some of them quite a bit of it. Some people are just too stubborn to believe anyting other then what they currently believe. Hopefully by helping and informing people of the truth they can eventually pass on what they've learned and so on and so fourth to a point where the truth reaches everyone and the obesity rate starts to decrease.

I hear the same thing at work, now that I am really back into it, people see me making my protein shakes at work and they have all the answers, protein you don't need extra protein, just eat three meals a day otherwise you'll get fat or I only eat once a day otherwise I can't stop eating and I get fat. I have heard it all, pisses me off to.

I use to go out of my way to offer people advice on losing weight but not any more, it`s like talking to the wall , they don`t believe you or can`t grasp the concept. I just do my thing and let them do their thing, unless they come to me for advice I mind my own business.

A girl I work with is fat as hell. She says she is trying to "lose weight". But also that she only eats like twice a day...and then she proceeds to tell me that she eats Lucky Charms for breakfast.

SOOOOO, I proceed to explain to her that she needs 4-6 meals a day (she does go to the gym too, I won't even bother getting into how fucked up her training routine is), and for starters, cut out all that sugar!!!! I tell her that, for breakfast she could have 1 egg and 4 whites and some ground turkery and some natural oatmeal....she interrupts me and says "haha oh no, that is just too much work...I just want something I can make in 2 minutes, like cereal or put something in the microwave and nuke it"...I gave up after this comment...

Haha I know how frusterating that is. I especially love the "i'm fed up with being overweight, i've tried EVERYTHING" and then when you tell them the right thing they proceed to make excuses like that girl your talking about.

    Exactly.

Ok, so I'm not the prettiest thing to look at and I'm not happy with my body the way it is right now, but at least I am attempting to do something about..and do it semi-properly! haha
