low carb diets can cause lack of energy, lack of sleep, bad diet/nutrition, overtraining, drinking alcohol, etc.
I've been trying to work out my lack of energy for a couple of years now with only partial success.
What are some things that could be causing it?
Here are some things I've noticed help a bit with my energy levels:
Going on a very low carb diet
Quitting alcohol
Quitting antidepressants

Yeah, most of those make sense...
Whats your normal diet like before you go low carb, and have you been to a doctor?
LOL Prince, the low carb diets turn ya to the alcohol huh?
Perhaps his body doesnt handle sugars well... I guess it'd depend on where he normally gets his carbs from.

For me it was Sleep Apnea. I had zero energy when a doctor noticed something in my throat. Turned out I would stop breathing over 500 times a night and getting a good bit less than half the sleep I thought I was. No REM sleep.
Got that taken care of and I am fine now.

Just do some coke or speed, you'll have tons of energy!![]()
Medical reason could be hypothroidism. your doc can to a blood test to check.

Freeman, I know you are picking, but this really has no place in a fitness board.Originally posted by freeman1504

If this has been going on for "a couple years" I'd strongly recommend getting a blood test. Iron levels can affect this, as can other things.

You're very tactlessly outspoken freeman, arent you?
No, I think I am well-spoken.
I could say, "you're very irritable and have no sense of humor"..would I be right? maybe..maybe not...lighten up![]()
Bah, well spoken Freeman? Nahh... however, if I tempted ya with a little nose candy I bet you'd turn into Shakespeare.
Anyhow, Revenant, as everyone has said... get that blood test done. Thats the first thing you should be concerned about. Until you do that I dont think anybody here can really offer you good advice![]()
I'm going to the doctor tomorrow and I'll ask for a blood test.
I'm so sick of this. I actually have to cycle caffeine use just to have enough energy to study for uni.
Yeah I actually have more energy going low carb which suggests hypoglycemia. I have dreams when I sleep so I'm guessing I don't have sleep apnea and therefore am getting enough sleep. I'm definitely not overtraining. I haven't trained in about 4 weeks due to lack of energy. The only time I do have enough energy for weightlifting is at the start of my caffeine cycles. After that the best I can do is a bit of cardio.Originally posted by Prince

How about cutting caffeine out completely?? That may be having an affect....especially when you stop taking caffiene after taking it for a while, you can get pretty tired. Just cut it out all together, and give your self some time to get use to not needing it ever/at all.
Yeah, I've done that a few times. The last time I went about 2 and a half months completely caffeine free (not even chocolate or cola), but I was forced to start having it again because I just didn't have enough energy.Originally posted by freeman1504

...Then it starts losing its effect so I keep needing more and more. I'm on holidays at the moment so I quit it again a few days ago.
