    No banana's are high on the GI

    Kiwi's, I'll have to check those out, I don't know for sure. My guess is lower because of the seeds/fiber.

    Well, if the underlying fear with the peaches and bananas is high GI you can always mix them in with your favorite premium French vanilla ice cream (16% fat, GI 38, GL 5) and sprinkle with peanut M&M’s (GI 33, GL 6) . All that fat should bring down the aggregate GI quite a bit! Top that off with some nutritious fiber and maybe a citrus liqueur (acid) and voilà low GI carbs!

    This will depend on what scale you're using...whether the baseline is white bread or glucose. BTW...the rating you listed Jodi in terms of Kiwiw...what was the baseline?

    I use Mendosa and his baseline is glucose. Kiwi is considered the higher end of low but too close so more like a med. GI

    That's what I thought you were using....based on that a rating of 51...I would say it's pretty much OK. Using that scale I would avoid anything 60 or over....funny thing is that when bananas are eaten when somewhat unripe their GI isn't that bad...it's when they begin to brown (get really tasty) that they really creep up on the index

    The benefits of fiber as well as the nutrients/vitamins in the kiwi FAR outweigh the fact that it has a close to medium GI rating...just my opinion.
