    Can you help me?

    Hey everyone...
    I am 19 years old, and I am 280lbs 6'2" male.

I Have been overweight for the good part of my life, and would like to change this. I am very self concious, and would never talk to anyone about this sort of thing.. so I found this forum and well here I am.

I don't really eat a lot, some days I don't even eat at all.. but I do eat out a lot. I would like to go shopping and compile a routine of what I should be doing. I like to play sports.. but now that I am older, what I do with my friends is not play sports.. but work on cars go to beach etc..

I know it is best to eat like 3-4 small meals rather then just 1 per day.. and well honestly I don't really know much. I am thinking of starting to work out soon.. but it is intimedating/embarassing because the friends I have who do work out are monsters.. they can bench 350+ and I can't even do half of that... so they always have to lower everything for me and I feel like a fool.

So I am wondering what exactly is the best way to loose weight, the safest way as well..

I am pretty sure I Have diabetes but too nervous to go to the doctor to actually find out..

thanks for any help you guys can give me

    Hi and Welcome!

Its best to eat 5-6 small meals a day consisting of protein, carbs and fat. Please post your current diet meal by meal including totals, quantities and times.

And go to the doctor! That is not something that should be left wondering about.

I think you should start by reading the articles located under Newbies Start Here at the top of this forum. You need to learn about proper nutrition first.

Hey man, I am in your shoes too, about 5'8" 270 lbs. (used to be 280, lost 10 lbs.) but man, what you gotta do is cardio, eat right and weight train...you should do about 30-45 min. of light cardio, or about 15-20 min. of high intensity cardio...do that at least 3 times a week, also, you gotta weight train, forget about the ones who are monsters, if it bothers you that bad, buy yourself a bench and some dumbbells so that you can do it at home...also, you should eat about 5-6 small meals a day...someone on this forum told me it should be 40% protein, 40%carbs, 20%fats...nuts are a good source of the good fats, like omega-3...I am lifting weights, eating better, and doing cardio now (I have been for about 1 month) and I feel better than ever...my muscles are growing, people are starting to notice, and i feel better inside, my asthma is even going away...also, one thing is to drink tons of water, at least 1 liter a day...alright, good luck, and wish it to me also!

Thats cute! More like 5-6 Liters a day.

Your advice was good Future. 40/40/20 is just one of the many ways to lose bodyfat. There are several. Also want to add that you should eat 1 - 1.5G of Protein x per pound of bodyweight.

My suggestion to both of you would be to read the Stickies at the top of the forum titled Newbie Start Here also read the Essential Fatty Acids sticky. Read, learn, practice, read and learn some more.

    Oh and Welcome to IM

Ok I read it well majority of it, and skimmed a lot. I was mainly looking for a pre-determined game plan. Or a website with it.. What I really would like is for someone to help me with a meal by meal day plan, for maybe 2 weeks and then repeat it. Or if that works I am not sure... I know I will be going to the gym every day or whatever you guys recommend to me to do.. I honestly just want help I have read so much, and don't understand the majority of it or get lost reading it.

    Thanks
