Yeah...mainly for 2 reasons...first being you're likely not accustomed to eating that volume of food at one serving so your stomach is full and second....if you're eating low carb and then eat a bunch of carbs you will naturally hold water since carbs cause you to hold more water.

The good thing is that it should disappear the enxt day.

Me too I feel the same way sometimes. Like - today. But that doesnt count because I ate way more than I was supposed to last night

What do you eat exactly on your carb up? Out of the sweet potato, oats, veggies, banana and butter, I think oats bloat me the most.

Julie he's not carbing up. He did a refeed. They are different and he shouldn't have had the bread. He would have had better results and no bloating if he stuck with slow burners.

Well guys I drank load of water today. I also did my normal lifting. I don't know what is going on wtih my body. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I don't know if I have plateaued or what. I look at my face today and it looks kinda chunky. I was gonna have a cheat today at the Outback Steakhouse. I was looking forward to that Bloomin' Onion. Well I am passing on it. It seem like If I carb up I gain weight. I know you guys may say it is retention but how long does this last? I don't know if you guys know this but my weightloss in the past was done all wrong. Basically Starving myself. It was not till a year ago that I learned good eating habits. I believ my metabolism is shot and If I eat normal I gain weight. Any thoughts? I do know a lot about fitness but damn what the hell is goin on with me?

To me its the same. Jodi states it's something different but It sounds the same to me. The only thing I think is different is the amount of times per week you carb up (refeed). On a CKD diet you do it once a week. On refeed you do it every two or three days. But a refeed may also vary where you are in terms of bodyfat. When you get to the 10 percent range your refeeds should be more frequent. Anything about 15 percent should be every 7 to 10 days.

A carb up looks like this: Carb Deplete for 3 or 4 days. On 4th day eat your same diet as your deplete days and then on your 6th meal of the day you eat, Oats, Sweet Potatoe, 1 C. Green Veggie, 1 banana, and 1 T. Fat source

Then you wake up the next day and deplete again and cyle that every 3-4 days. Its one meal (Carb-Up) consisting of a shit load of carbs not entire day of carbs (Refeed)

You can read about it in the Sticky at the top of the forum titled Newbies Start here.
