    Question Oatmeal in Shake

Gotta question here. I asked in my journal also, but haven't heard a response so I'll try here. I tried putting my oatmeal in my shake this morning. After blending it (40g protein, 3 frozen strawberries, 1 cup dry oatmeal) I drank most of the shake only to find most of the oatmeal had settled to the bottom of the blender. How do I stop that from happening?!?! It was pretty gross then.

I add flax or peanut butter. It will always settle at the bottom IMO try to make your shake thicker and I always swirl it right before I drink it ... (I also don't use quite that much oatmeal).

I have heard of people cooking it and adding it when it cools.
I have never done that before though.

Thanks Solid, I'll try making it thicker and stirring it as I drink it. This morning I had to fill what was left (oatmeal) up with water and down it. I thought I was going to . I put 1 tbsp of heavy whipping cream in now. Should I add PB in addition?

IMO, I would go with what you do already, don't add to it. Make it thicker and go from there.

Are you using a MRP or just Protein powder?

Just protein powder since I get the carbs from the oatmeal. How do I make it thicker?

See that is why I don't use as much oatmeal, I use a MRP.

If your plan lets you eat bananna's try this shake.

1 Whole Bananna- (Chopped and Frozen)
    1 Tbsp Peanut Butter
    1 Cup Oatmeal
1 Scoop Protein or 40 grams
    4 Ice Cubes

Start with the water or milk first add 8 oz put in all your items in. Your bender might freakout or not. Just add a little water or milk until you get the thickness you desire. If it is too much water and doesn't get thick enough add ice cubes.

Solid's got a good idea with that shake. I don't freeze my bananas, but I bet it helps. Also, if, and only if your diet permits, try adding some honey. Nothing better than drinking a pb & banana sandwich w/ honey!

That sounds good Freeman but I'm trying not to take in sugar except pwo. I'm bulking but trying to minimize fat as much as possible.

Hey Solid, Pro-Lab makes a GREAT cinnamon oatmeal MRP. 40g protein (best quality, micellar caesin I think) 40g carbs from oats, brown rice, barley, and 8g fat. it tastes great...good for breakfast if you are running late and it tastes "breakfasty".

I keep some of those medium size Gatorade bottles and keep my shakes in them. The large opening allows you to easily pour a shake from the blender. I make a days worth and store them in the fridge at work. About 30 minutes before I drink it I shake it vigorously and put it in the freezer. When I take it out its nice and frosty, I shake it again and drink a little. I continue the shake and drink process till its gone them I add a little water, shake it up and get the last little bit. I take the bottles home, boil them and reuse them the next day. Try adding a graham cracker and cinnamon it tastes pretty good that way.

One more thing, my blender has a super high setting called
Liquefy, it pulverizes everything even those little strawberry seeds so I usually have very little sediment in my shakes.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I made my shake this morning. But PB in it, made it thicker, put it on liquify and then transfered it to a large Gatorade bottle. WORKED GREAT!!

Thanks everybody! The mystery of the oatmeal shake is now solved.

I ordered this product after reading the above and I have to say, this is easily the best tasting shake I've ever purchased. Thanks for the tip.

Is there any sugar in there pepper?
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain...

Yes, 5 grams. THis is higher than any other shake I would buy, but I bought it for breakfast and the other carbs are supposedly "slow burning"

It sounds really good, I just don't think I can handle that 5g.
