Lets assume there are no stupid questions, but here's one that might be borderline....

What is the difference between "Natural" Peanut Butter and any other kind of Peanut Butter?

I see people strictly post "Natural" before "Peanut Butter" in posts all the time and want to make sure I'm taking the right stuff.

Natural PB is fresh ground PB. Its basically grinded peanuts with not salt or sugar added. Not the stuff like Jif or Skippy. You can find it in your natural food section in your grocery store or you may have to go to a Natural Food Store.

Jif & Skippy are full of preservatives and added sugar.

NAtty PB doesn't have trans fatty acids. You must mean Jif & Skippy.

Un-natty peanut butter has more saturated fat. Hence the hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated vegetable oil(as the link states to stabilze the PB) AND added sugar. Look at the ingredients next time in the supermarket.
Natty PB will have two: Peanuts and salt. Skippy has a list of crap.

Those are fine just like natty PB. Though they contain about 20g Fat for 2 tbsp as opposed to 16g fat.
I have never tried cashew butter, but have tried Almond Butter. At first it was very yummy. But then I got tired of it.

The natural I buy has one ingredient, Peanuts. You'll know it's natural by the layer of oil on top that you have to mix in before you can use it.

Question: I'm allergic to nuts so I eat soy PB. It has a good whack of mono fats, and the ingredients look good (no sugar). It also has the layer of oil on top when I open the jar.

Do you think this is the same as natty PB or should I try to find another source?

well, i bought this arrowhead mills natural pb at whole foods. got home, looked at it...blink...blink...looked at it again and said to myself, 'self, what the hell is that on top?' so i assumed i was supposed to mix it all up. so i go and grab a spoon and proceed to stir and...my spoon won't move. that stuff was thick. so i stared at it for a bit and said to myself, 'self, what the...' so i ended up spooning all the oil out, leaving myself with just the really thick pb and put it in the fridge and forgot about it. after a couple of weeks i tried putting a couple tbl spoons in the blender with my whey and blended it up for a bit and it tasted pretty damn good. i guess my question is, is it really necessary to mix the oil with the pb? it just wouldn't mix by spoon. is this supposed to be an effort to do or should it be easy to mix up? i saw some smuckers natural pb and it was oily at the top with ground up peanuts but when i shook it around it looked much easier to stir. the pb actually moved a little. anyone use arrowhead mills pb?

    Use a knife its easier.

I would never ditch that oil, its part of what makes natty PB an EFA and good for you. Mix it up and then put it in the fridge so it doesnt separate again.
