ration question?

Why does p/c/f ratios matter? If 2 people are eating the same # of calories, would a person who's following the ratios loose more body fat?

Is it true that calories from carbs get stored faster as fat vs. calories from protein?

Yes, to your last question. It is know as de novo lipogenisis.

This occurs when you have carbs and are in calorie surplus.

For protein to be converted to fat, it would first need to be broken down to glucose (gluconeogenisis). Glucuse is sugar, a carb. So there is an extra step.

Also, carbs will spike insulin. Insulin is a powerful storage hormone. That is why, for example, you want to take suagr with creatine (to help creatine uptake in the musculature.

So, if you are constantly spiking insulin you are promoting nutrient and fat storage. Not what you want when looking to lose fat.

Overall, total calories are the most important thing, but your ratios (at the extremes) do matter.

For example, living on popcorn would be a bad idea, and you would lose a lot of muscle in addition to fat.

Your goal, should always be to reduce fat and maintain (or increase) muscle. For this, macronutrient ratios are quite important as you need sufficient protein and essential fatty acids.

As well, protein is more thermogenic than fat or carbs. In other words, it raises your basal metabolic rate a little more than fat and carbs.

Probably more than you wanted or needed to know.
