    Mct

I bought some oil, called "MCT gold"...gotta a few Q's.

    1) -is a medium chain trigliuceride a special kind of oil or a general type? how do you know what's in it?(poly/mono/sat) ... and is it omega 3 ,6 or 9?

2 ) -i heard this stuff burns fat?

3 ) -on the back it says that it has 8 cals per g... I thought fat had 9 cals per gram?(maybe its an estimation?)

"Meduim Chain" is the genetic makeup of the molecules. Olive Oil is a Long Chain for instance. And I may be wrong but I believe that MCT (depending on the source) is a mixture of different fats.

For instance Coconut oil is 55% MCT but ~90% saturated.

It doesn't nescessarily burn fat, but your body burns it as a prefered fuel source like a carb source.

its only 8 cals per gram as that is what is needed for the body to use it for energy.

Sitting and puking at the same time?

Olive oil is the same, work up the dose slowly, or you will be sorry.

-I mean what is the point of using this special MCT product? is there any at all? Or should i just go with other sources like flax and such?

--the back of this bottle of ultimate nutrition MCT oil doesnt display any of the saturation info...wtf

Read this:- http://www.vrp.com/JulyNews2003.pdf Basically MCT is a fat made up of medium chain fatty acids (MCFA's). These are saturated fatty acids with 8, 10, or 12 carbon atoms. They have certain benefits in that they don't require carnitine to transport them into cells. Monolaurin also has health-giving properties. Coconut oil/fat is 47% lauric acid.
