    The South Beach Diet...

Has anyone tried this diet? Results?

Sounds like the maintenance phase of Atkins to me.

Oh, I am. I was just curious....sounded like a more reasonable diet for those trying to lose a substantial amount of fat.
I heard an interview w/ the Doc who created the diet, and what he said made a lot of sense. The regimen he outlined was basically that used by most folks here at IM. (i.e., good, low GI carbs, high intake of fibrous veggies, good fat sources, etc.)
    Common sense for sale, y'know?

I know 3 people that are on it, and they all lost at least 6 pounds in the first 2 weeks. HOWEVER once the diet gets to its stage 2 and 3 phases, they gained it all back, and usually went on binges. I wouldn't recomend this diet.
