Travelling is hard on a diet

Any tips from the road warriors? I'm stuck in a hotel room for 2 weeks... It has a weight room with some crappy equipment... but enough that at least I can workout the muscle groups i need to...

My biggest problem is diet... I can't stand going to a restaurant and ordering a salad all the time... I had a burger and fries today from Planet Hollywood... I haven't had french fries in about 7 months...

would you recommend more cardio if my diet is going to suffer? (temporarily of course)

PS I'm not overweight or anything, not cutting, but I'm definitely not interested in putting on just fat, I am trying to build muscle mass, but i have patience to do it without eating like Mudge...
    Are you kidding me????

Fridge in the room? I know Planet has better choices than that.

If there is a fridge, go to a deli buy some real meat, whole wheat bread, etc. Make some sandwiches. Have your protein with you? If so go find a little shop that blends up smoothies/shakes ask if they will add the protein to a shake you order. My friend used to mix it up in my Frapuccino at Starbucks and pour it in my thermos. Look around I am sure there are places with healthy choices on the menu. Just cause they give you a mound of potatoes on the plate doesn't mean you have to finish them all. I often ask places that overdo the starches to supplement extra veggies and they do so willingly.

I would take protein powder and a shaker with you. Do the rooms have fridges and nukers? I pack those things full of Tuna, chicken, and salmon. I also take some bars. My biggest problem is skipping meals when I get busy and can't get away for lunch.

go to a reasuraunt and order some protein to go with your salad.

    My suggestions:

    meal 1-steak, eggs and oatmeal
    meal 2-steak, potato, salad
    meal 3-steak, rice, salad
    meal 4-steak, salad
    meal 5-steak, salad

    Yup.

I travel once, maybe twice a year for work. The first thing I do after I check into my hotel is find a grocery store. I stock up on foods such as fruits, beef jerky, bottled water, tuna pouches, and protein powder/bars if I can find them.

NO BIGGIE , hold da mayo , its 2 weeks , im sure the "so called gym" your at is more of a circut,, run that 3-4 times , no rest till the circuts finised( full body ). start with your major muscles ( chest, back, quads, hams) end with small muscle groups ( shoulders,bi's tri's calves),,, 1-2 exercize per body part ,, if they dont have a machine for a particular part, then use your own body weight to make up for it ( which in most cases would be more effective anyways )
as for eating, just stay within your caloric limit ,, doesnt have to be oats and tuna , flax seed oil or natural peanut butter,
EAT the burger ,, no probs,, just make sure you keep track of what your eating in those 3 meals and your total caloric intake is similar to what you normally eat,
although i do recommend to KILL fries , cheese, mayo , and other pointless fat sources
AND cardio , wake up take your bcaa''s or shake and do some HIIT
    youll be just fine
6 - Packs are made in the kitchen , at least mine was

Thanks for the advice guys, I've just felt unmotivated too, St Louis is very cold and dirty compared to my SoCal home and I'm not all that stoked to be here, I think that has a lot to do with my actually eating french fries...

Regardless I did bring my 20 packets of Met-Rx LITE MRP... not too bad, low carb, decent protein blend, so that helps a bit, I did buy Myoplex carb sense protein bars to eat while I'm out in the field and can't eat a meal... I also brought my EFA supplement as well as my 6-oxo for my mini PH cycle that ended a couple days before I left...

the worst thing is every morning I go down to have breakfast and they have TONS of donuts EVERYWHERE... and BIG CHOCOLATE muffins... I'm like WTF did i possibly do to deserve this f'n torture... anyway, I've been eating a large bowl of plain cheerios with skim milk and a bananna... it's not terrible, but those damn donuts are driving me freaking nuts...

Another question, they have that Quaker instant oatmeal packets, you know, like maple and brown sugar and cinnamon and spice and what not.... I've read before that they contain too much sugar... but just out of curiousity do you think 2 packets of the instant oatmeal with a glass of OJ is an ok breakfast?

Plain oatmeal or the flavored one? If it is the flavored on, when you add the OJ you will be getting close to 80g carbs and maybe 5-10 grams of protein. (assuming you use water to make the oatmeal)

First of all Mayo what happen to your fine avatar?

I wouldnt worry to much about it as long as it dosent become a daily habbit. To me it looks like you have enough mucsel to burn those extra calories from some of the foods that you ate. I know there is that guilt that follows after a chesseburger and fries but hey that will make you work much harder when you do get home.

Our you out of town on buisness or what? Two weeks on buisness sounds crazy.

I travel all the time with work (gone 3-4 nights a week). I work out in any gym I can find and If I can't find one, I run. I freeze everything (Cooked Chicken Breast, L.F. Cottage Cheese, Sweet Potatoes etc..) and eat it as it thaws. I use the frozen stuff to keep my first days fresh meal cold. I replenish the cooler with ice bags at the hotel every night. I also carry a lot of Protein Bars and MRP's with a shaker. I also love Subway's Turkey sandwich with X2 the meat and you can find them most everywhere. A lot of breakfast joints carry egg beaters which is great with wheat toast. People always laugh that my cooler is about as big as my overnight bag and flight kit. I laugh back as I watch them chow down on McDonalds, BK etc........... Good Luck!
