I have a friend on the atkins and he gets soupy poopie when he eats sugar alcohols.
I have tried a few atkins and other low "net carb" products and I'm not sure, but I'm starting to see a trend between heart burn and intake of sugar alcohols... has anyone else heard of this?
Are you kidding me????

"soupie poopie" eh?Now there's an expression.
i wonder what would be a good expression for the effect that eating too much glycerine or glycerine esters would be?

since these sugar alcohols ( a misnomer by the way as they have no alcohol effect whatsoever ) stay in the belly for longer periods of time than regular carbs, they cause an osmotic shift; they draw water into your intestines. This causes the diarhhea that most of you have observed. Excessive amounts of sugarless gum sweetened with xylitol or malitol will cause this effect. so for those people eating foods containing all these "***ols:, squeeze real hard! its a great way to get striated glutes!!
