Help me with carbs

I have a question about taking carbs with the protein shake. I have started taking dextrose with creatin after my workout and then about 15 minutes later taking a protein shake with about 40 grams of whey protein. I know i need carbs with the protein shake but what can i add to the shake for enough carbs? Also how many carbs do i need to add? Should i forget about dextrose and creatin and just add the creatin withe protein shake or what? Thanks for your help!

What i do is i take a MRE like Met-rx or Myoplex (there are a million out there) and then i add my whey to it. That way i am getting my protien and carbs, and the whey is just upping the protien intake. but depending how much protien you want will depend on what you do. Met-Rx has 39 grams of Protien and 17 grams of carbs.

That is just how i do it.

i simply mix it all together, dextrose, creatine and whey protein, and have it after my workout.

So does that means that the carbs inside Creatine is enough to satisfy our post workout carb needs along with a regular Protein Shake?

No there is no carbs in the creatine, the carbs are in the dextrose that you mix in with it.

dextrose is the best carb source after working out, it gives you the greatest insulin spike, which means fastest and best absorption of glucose, protein and creatine into your muscles.
