well, most likely these protein smoothies are expensive and high in sugar.

if you drink them for a source of protein it would make more sense to be drinking them several times per day, and to make your own using a quality protein powder.

    Smoothie breakdown

    dude,
    I am a smoothie god!
When I'm in training, I'm a freak! Check it out,
I because I need a ton of calories in training, 1/3 to 1/2 of my calories comes from smoothies. No way would I get them from a yogurt shop, and no way would I meet the demand my body makes on me with solid food. (although there are some damb fine hip tasty ones out there, nodoubt, and the honeys be lovin it), but I digress.

Optimum Nutrition = 110 cals per scoop = 23 grams protein
    Muscle Milk = 348 cals per serving(2scps) = 32 grams protein

To really pile on the calories, use milk in Muscle Milk, then they jump it up to 638 cals per serving(w 2cups) - I am takin this right off the label here, fellas.
Muscle Milk costs more than the average protein(you'll pay more at your local store than online), but damb that shit is the bomb, and it shakes up real good in your shaker bottle too.

I got a blender, and throw in bananas, yogurt, peanut butter, oranges, chocolate, other fruits, berries, etc, depending on the day.

I usually have one an hour before a workout, and then another one right after, and then a course, some solid food. hehe.
    Determined.

Pierzin- That many smoothies during the day and not much solids would give me the squirts like a mofo! haha

I can manage squirts are alright, as long as there's no GAS
I once followed the advice of a certain renown author in diet nutrition and instead of using protein powder mixed up one small bag (about 8 servings) of dry milk powder...kids, don't try it at home..I had to buy my roommate an oxygen tank. Out.

Your absolutely right Jenny. Like Prince mentioned, they are loaded with sugar. The one I like "Strawberry Wild" contains like 62 grams of sugar I believe (yikes). Oh well, they sure are good though. I don't have them very often. It's funny though. Years ago I used think they were good for you based on all the marketing mumbo jumbo. I was shocked when I read the specs.

Actually Jamba Juice wouldn't be good on a refeed either because of all the fructose.

It would for the beggining of your refeed. The point is to fill liver glycogen and muscle glycogen. A jamba would fill the liver glycogen.

The way companies like Jamba juice advertise their products pisses me off! Trying to make things look healthy when it's just a bunch of crap. There should be laws against it really!

    I agree Jenny.
Especially for those that are endangering their lives by living off of fastfood and stuff. Since they're not educated in regard to proper health etiquette they seem to get stung the most. I can see someone trying to turn over their lifestyle by drinking lots of smoothies since they have been advertised to be healthy. Then after the person croaks from obesity and high cholesterol they find it could have been prevented if they were just aware that smoothies suck ass for health

I agree but fat america always gets even. They just file a lawsuit against the company for it making them fat. Like the McDonalds one. I think there should be mandatory classes in school to properly educate kids on what is good and bad. They try it now but it never works, and if they found a decent program then the kids would spread it to the parents. Just my 2 cents though.
