carb cycling

Who has tried carb cycling - one day high one day low one day no carbs?

Has anyone had any success with this - and any tips for me - i'm interested in this and was thinking about it......

Thanks

Jodi and I have successfully used this method for pre competition dieting. Its an easy plan to follow psychologically and to prepare your meals for. The cycling keeps you rmetabolism rocking straight through instead of plummenting like most diets. This also works well for those that dont fare well on low/no carb diets.

What are you goals? Please feel free to post your questions, we will be happy to answer the best we can

I am trying to lose around 5% bf.

But I have been stuck for a year. I have done evertything and I have not moved at all. I have experimented for about a year. I can not seem to stay on a keto diet for longer than a month.

Anyway. I am at 23% bf. And I do plenty of cardio and I "think" that there is no possible way to clean up my diet any more! Its not like I don't do strength training either.

Anyway I wont ramble on. Do you cycle the days like one high, low, no, or does it matter?

The standard cycle is no, high, low. I would start with 2-3 no days and then begin the cycle.
Diet is key and due to the long dieitng period, your leptin levels and metabolism are slowed down. The carb ccyle will help boost it again. Also, too much cardio can be bad for you- stripping down LBM and/or causing your body to hold on to stored fat. How much are you doing?

Given your situation I think the carb cycle would work nicely. You need a plan that incorporates that high cal day to bump up your metabolism.

I could not possibly be doing too much cardio - because I hate it too much to DO to much. I do about 20 minutes in the morning around three times a week more or less plus, sometimes after a workout I'll do some cardio.

Thank you for the advice.
This is really something I'm going to consider - I feel like I've already lost my sanity....... My body is not as nice to me as it used to be. It used to be so easy.......

Hey Candy! I have been carb cycling since November and it works quite well! I think this would be a great option for you, especially to change things around from a norm sort of diet.
your cardio amount is good. not too much, thats what I like to see. you may want to drop one of those morning sessions and do a session of HIIT instead(not first thing in the morning) .

Two questions: Who thinks the small piece of fruit is necessary on TPs article on carb cycling and Is it necessary to eat some protein meals by themselves on the carb days (is a whey shake alone ever a meal or do you mix with fat)? sorry thats 3 questions lol

The small piece of fruit is to help send the FED signal, yes its necessary.

Yes protein meals are fine alone however, that is the perfect opportunity to add 5 Fish Caps.

what ive been doing the past few cut cycles, is, simply eating about 40-30-30 on w/o days, then on all cardio or off days, ill do 50 20 30, then one refeed per week, is that about standard? cuz ive been checking out twin peaks version, and im wondering if ill really see any difference... sometimes its easy to get way too techinical...

TPs version seems like it can get complicated at times. Seems like calories could get a little too low on the low and especially no carb days, but I guess the high carb will offset any metabolic slowdowns. Im just kinda hung up on counting my macros every day.

It seems complicated but once you do it for awhile it becomes alot easier. I'm having some issues with my portions being to low on high carb days (I think) but its not too bad.

Protein should be eaten first on those carb meals according to TP, so you never miss having your 1 gram per lb of bodyweight. Remember, protein is the foundation of this diet.
However, on a no carb day, im thinking if I ate protein at 200 grams and carbs at near zero, unless I have a lot of fat, that puts myb caloric level down to approx 1000-2000, right? Pretty low it seems.

I eat 1.5g/lb bodweight in protein each day. and as for the fats on no carb days, I tend to increase them a bit compared to low and high carb days, but yes essentially the calories are lower..thats somewhat the point as well. it only for 1 day and then you have a higher carb day to prevent metabolic slowdown.
