Question How do you guys do it...

I've been cutting for a little over a week after bulking for 2 months, and my apetite hasn't adjusted yet. I keep getting hungry every hour, and I'm dying to eat like I ate during my bulk...
how do you guys overcome your hunger?

I think i've got a really high metabolism, but I've gained 8lbs since october, and my bodyfat has remained the same.

how big is the difference is cals that you are eating right now for last week? Usually if I am bulking and i do a mini cut, or start dieting all together, I drop the cals very slowly (a little bit to start), maybe say 200-300cals. If you dropped to many right away you are probably starving yourself.

based on that I would not think that you would need to drop your cals that much, at least not to the point where you're hungry every hour.

Lowering your calories slowly allows for maintaining more LBM, now someone like Lee Priest can drop 45 pounds in 5 weeks and doesn't seem to lose LBM at all but of course he has his secrets - which he is not very secrative about.

It takes me maybe 3 weeks to adjust to a cutting diet, but I am not the most methodical about pulling calories slowly either, however this will change now as I am trying to get better results myself.

It's a lot of will power, and just straight up miserable dieting. Cutting is one of those things that everyone hates, if you ask me. I dread it like crazy. That's why I just try to keep a moderate diet and keep my bodyfat in check.

I recommend that you up your fiber intake and eat LOTS of vegetables. Helps me a lot when I'm dieting. All year-round, bulking or cutting, I pretty much eat like a vegetarian, in that 90% of my plate at every meal is a hefty serving of veggies, just with a 5-6 ounce piece of meat and some fish oil capsules or a bowl of brown rice/oats/quinoa/similar whole grain.

    Peace.

Lee Priest is a beast man. Seriously, does that guy take 200 times the amount of clen that regular folks take to get in contest shape? His off-season diet is seriously the most indulgent one I've seen...

yea, but I'm just doing a minicut right now, since my main priority is to bulk, i'd just like to do a minicut lasting 2-3 weeks. should i still be dropping the cals slowly??
I've dropped my overcal cals by about 800ish.

800 seems to much, drop it by 500, and if you need to take off more, go from there

yes 800 is too much. 500 should be enough. 3500 calories must be lost to see 1lb fat drop. 7days in a week X 500 calories = 1lb fat.

To me there are two types of hunger, one kind is where your stomach gets emtpy and it hurts so your body is demanding that you put food in it, the other kind is that the blood sugar gets low so then it sends a signal to your brain telling you to get more calories in...I just have oatmeal or brown rice along with fish oil or CLA, that keeps the blood sugar steady, and at the same time allows me to burn fat and controls appetite, I think also water is a big factor too.

Yea, I tried calculating my caloric drop, but I guess its harder than i thought. I've been following w8lifter and DP's bulking and cutting plan very closely, but I get hungry when I go onto cutting.

it's miserable... just eat more and do more moderate cardio... people are so against cardio... but the fact is, if you are eating sufficiently it can seriously help out if you enjoy eating a bit more...
    Are you kidding me????

i agree... i used to hate cardio but now i just suck it up and do it... i try to time it with a good TV show so that way it's not as tedious... it definately elevates that natural high you get after lifting and it accelerates fat loss significantly for me... i eat pretty well too but not nearly as well as a lot of the people on this board... lately i've been smoking a lot of pot before bed which often leads to me waking up in the middle of the night hungry... i usually kill my appetite with a bowl of cereal and then go back to bed... probably not the best thing to do, but oh well... i figure as long as i'm doing cardio i can afford to do little things like that :P
