    Question regarding calorie deficit...

i have been in a long conversation with hardasnails about cutting. he suggests that i should up my cardio during cut, so that i can keep eating maintenance level cals, allowing the cardio to simply subtract off the entire ammount. this way you are "burning fat while feeding the muscle", he further recommended keeping cardio at 30 mins, 3 times a week.

this sounds like a great idea to me, just wanted to hear some feedback.

I find that after some time ,depending on how much bodyfat you are trying to lose you will have to do cardio almost daily and/or create a calorie deficit also.Your body will resist the change in diet and cardio sooner or later, and you`ll most likely have to do more cardio or decrease cals to jump start the fat burning process. This happens to me anyway. If you are cutting up to compete and must come in with as low a BF% as possible you`ll most likely hit a sticking point at some time during your diet.

This seems to be great advice. Start with the smaller deficit with the cardio and when you get to a plateau like most do, then adjust accordingly. Always good to try your best to avoid starvation mode with smaller deficits.

30 minutes interval cardio as long as the intervals are about a 1:3 ratio should not eat up muscle provided proper nutrition requirements are dailiy intake.

dont rely on those machines for an accurate level of caloires burned.. it varys on the person and their body composition and output, etc. Just get the cardio in and your set!

yeah your right about it depending on body comp... but it does take in your weight, age, and pulse. so i think it is pretty close.

My PT says the same thing. He doesn't like the Elypticals.

however I find I lose more using that machine. I don't use that machine just because it's more effective for me when dieting down, it's GREAT on the joints..............which is the only reason I use the Elyptical.

Secondly I lose here: Abs, legs, back.....Arms is inbetween first and second. It's a gradual process......

For you: it could be dif............

Do you follow where I'm going with this?

The stepper and eliptical tend to thicken the legs. Provinding your calories are prohibiting loss of LBM, you should be fine on the eliptical. Walking or biking is another option.

I agree... I don't really drop my calories much during a cut, just clean them up and do 3 30 minutes sessions of cardio a week...
