oh yeah... and im trying to bulk, btw.
so after i workout i heard u need carbohydrates or something, aand that u need protein too.
right after i finish lifting i eat a couple fruit yogurts.
each one has 3.5 g fat, 32 carbs (28 sugar), and 7g protein.
i hear sugar is bad, but carbs are needed after i workout.... is this the wrong kind of carbs? i try to avoid protein shakes as they dont seem to really help me. yogurt is also easy for me to eat right after i workout as i dont really have an appetite then. is my yogurt ok?![]()

that is not the worst thing you could be eating PW, but not the best either....you really need a quick absorbing protein (like whey) first and foremost immediately after training to stop catabolism and start anabolism. If you do not want to use a whey powder, I would suggest egg whites, they will be digested very quickly as well. Yes, glycogen stores neeed to be replenished with carbs, but this can begin one hour after your training. Unless you really want to go for the post work-out insulin spike, then you could add simple carbs like glucose/dextrose to your post training shake or with your egg whites.
Why do you feel protein shakes don't help?

protien shakes are great especally for bulkin in fack im drinkin one at the moment
with 1090 cals
50 grams or protien
with a total carb of 220 grams
well ive just used them before, and for me ive seen my best gains when i ate more real food. it seems like there is no substitute for food, and protein shakes never fill me up like a meal does. usually i just put protein powder in milk... ive seen people who put fruit and other things in it but i dont have a blender so never tried that. anyways ive just seen better results from eating 5 solid meals a day than 3 meals and 3 protein drinks. yet many people here swear by them. im just confused, really, i dont know why they dont give me the same results.

yeah, real food is better, but it's difficult to get in enough protein via real food, and PW a whey protein shake is ideal due to quick digestion.
Most definately and don't forget some carbs to go with it.Originally posted by Prince

1000 cals and 220 carbs in a single shake?! What is in it? Protein powder, pepsi and a few snickers bars?
